Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - Month 1 finished pictures, WIP month 2

    Comments:

@GomezAddams: Tinypic must truly hate you.

@EmperorNorton: A great looking crew you have there, the mix of livid and toned down colours works well and the eyes are unsettling. They come together well as a group and the bases are ace as always. I know most at least most are inlays, but somebody still needs to paint them. The dark tones make the eyes light up even more and give them an overall dark feel while still able to use some stark colours.

@basher:The uniforms come out quite nice and the skin is appropriately bloody and grey/green. You might have overdone it a bit with the dusting on the boots or they are a bit sunk into the bases. I do not know if these models come with slottas, but if they do just use a bit of the package in the base under the feet to put them on the dirt. This of course forces you to cut a bit off the slotta between the legs. How many more to come?

@myself: Use the typesetting next time.

@Hairy Norseman: Although not a sci-fi player myself, variation is what makes this thread thrive. It is nice to see something completely different. The flying thingy looks properly grounded and the markers should come in handy even for larger games. The basing looks good, very nice rocky colours.

@Bubbatron: Never heard of this before, nice neutral not over the top miniatures. The painting style fits them. With the little eyes I prefer to paint them before doing the face. Splash on a thin white layer, add stripe and crop with black, then I crop it again with the base skin tone and start to work on the skin. Nowadays I find that I have more control with the brush and start to build up the eye as well, so the black stripe has to wait and after all colours to the eye have been done it will be added. Washes are also a great way to get softer rims around the eye.

@Whitwort Stormbringer: I have that one primed and ready for this tale and had a good closer look. He has quite a few colours on him and the cigar looks to be burning for real. The spots look good and make each Quar a challenge I presume. A nice model well executed if I may say so.

@Rotokultaxe: I only hear good things about this game and liked the pictures of the hackers with the air keyboards. It must be possible to print it on thin clear plasticard and add two circles to the hands. Hard to do with glue I admit, but it would be worth it. The painting looks very good, nice transitions and OSL. Nice skin on the army seed-soldier. But those bases need a bit of flock or something suitably sci-fi.

@perplexity: Nice, good skin colours and dark dresses. They shine, but varnish must be applied for gaming purposes, I would add two layers of matt varnish as well.

@tame: More infinity and with a great paintjob. Experimenting is good and makes you a better and wiser painter. Photography is not a hobby of mine either, I always hope other go from their experiences and extrapolate what the camera missed. I think I will have to get a lighting box and better skills in the future as well.

@Keravin: Aah, variety and so much of it. Those trollbloods look really good. Nice freehand on the warjack shield. The freebooters look good, and the brown skin tone came out well. I am not familiar with a model called savant mortemer, what is he for?

@Grisnik: Are there no grasses in infinity? All of the bases here look a bit bland (base addict here). The miniature came out quite well, the blue hair works well with the uniform. I must go and have a closer look at the range to make more qualified comments.

@The Judge: That dog looks ace, just as the arbitrator. He could use a bit of time in the sun, but I guess big hive cities do not have much of that. Nice bases, I quite like those. The prowler looks great and the helmet even better, but still doggy for the win here. Really good painting.

@Moticia Addams: Tinypic loves her. Nice gun singer, as for stitches I strongly recommend the Britanan Gomez has lying around. These are truly tiny and pictures always show them quite large. As such the shading is exceptionally good. And that rattler looks great as well; the gold-metallic looks really good.

@Arcanum: The armoured arm looks great, skin comes in all tones so dark is just as good to me. The painting is good, but the thing that goes for a bra with her makes the other colours to dark. A bit of dirt there and it becomes moodier all over. Colour schemes can take a while to decide on, but take your time and choose with your gut. Metal fatigue, do you mean bent up and down too much?

and some WIPs of my Vaettir Vstonin:

    Alright, comments time.

    Page 1:

    @Gomez Addams:

@EmperorNorton: They look awesome! Especially the lost, but espiecially everything else too. And I follow your plog, but will of course keep your secret

@basher: Well, those are some nasty nazi zombies all right. Well done, they look great, or nasty, whichever you prefer

@little joe: Everything looks good man, well done on the death kiwi it looks similar to a real one.

@Hairy Norseman: Nice objectives man, I love the colour scheme. Will you be doing the Delves armour with the same lighter pattern on them?

@Whitworth Stormbringer: Great to see more of your Quar mate! I agree the jacket looks really nice.

@Rotokultaxe: Nice....they are tiny right? Especially coming from Gws stuff, there are some beautiful sculpts though.

@tame: Great work man, similar in look to how I'm planning my Haqq too.

@Keravin: Looking good mate, the lines and checks on the warjack are pretty cool too.

@Grisnik: Nicely done mate, have you thought about putting a brighter colour inside the visor? Just to make it stand out more.

@The Judge: Gritty looking Inquisitor, great stuff man. And I love the helmet on the prowler.

@Morticia Addams: Those puppets are just so cute. How fun is the game? I haven't really had a chance to look into it yet.

@Arcanum: Nice Taelor mate, well done.

Ok, comments for the people who have posted on Page 1 so far.. plus replies to those 2 that have given me comments also

@Gomez - Will wait for pictures, but sounds like you did some cool things.. also looking forward to how you used Liquid Gold.. am hearing a lot about it, but cannot find reliable dealers of it..

@EN - Love your work as always ( always checking your plog also ). The bright white eyes just make them look extra creepy..

@Basher - what can go wrong with nazi zombies? Love this game, and the green/greys on the cloth is great!

@Little Joe - interesting mix of models.. looking forward to seeing more of Warploques models getting painted by you..

Also.. no there is no grass in the future.. or at least in places that Nomads reside They seem to be stuck in barges, and spaceships, along with areas looking for their next high..

@hairy Norseman - Nice objectives.. the stipple effect for the blues is great!

@bubbatron - interesting mix of models here.. looking forward to more of them..

@Whitwort Stormbringer - Seen some of the quar out there, and love the skin tones you went with here..

@Rotokultaxe - Love the nomads there.. the OSL on the visor is quite nice, as is the vest.. will be keeping an eye on your stuff going forward for ideas..

@perplexiti - nice models, but a bit shiny at the moment.. any chance they will get a hit of matte varnish?

For the visor.. I was thinking about it.. but I was not sure if I could pull it off.. will give it a shot on future models though and see how it goes.. Thanks for the tip..

@Tame - love the Haqq.. painted that model myself a long time ago, but yours came out much better!

@Keravin - Love the mix of models you have done.. so many at such a high level.. amazing..

@The Judge - Love the paint job on the pup there.. looks quite realistic! Inq looks good too, but I keep getting drawn to the pup! Nomad Prowler is great as well.. especially the litter on the ground..

@Morticia - After seeing your pieces, I need to look into Puppet wars more.. seems to be an interesting mix of models there..

@Arcanum - cool model.. like the metals, and the hammer swap is cool.

@Grisnik: They will indeed get some matt varnish, I'm just too broke at the moment to pick any up. Two kids a mortgage and one income means very few hobby purchases unfortunately.

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - Month 1 finished pictures, WIP month 2

Tinypic finally worked - its only taken.. what, a week. GAH!

EMPEROR NORTON - I still think these are by far the best pieces you've done to date. Theres so much character and individuality in each of the children, never mind hamelin himself.

BASHER - Lovely grim stuff. I like that you've kept the weathering on the coat fairly minimal. Its easy to get carried away with zombies but these are nice.. Whats your blood recipe?

LITTLE JOE - You basing has gotten very impressive, especially the Kiwi which looks incredibly natural. Your definately going to have to do a few more basing tutorials in your plog for those of use who've resorted to resin bases.

HAIRY NORSEMAN - Those aren't skirmish figures! But I'm going to let you off as they look really nice. The nebula effect is incredibly cool and the kill team fits nicely with them. Looking forward to your Galan Quarterbane.

BUBBATRON - I'm not sure what to suggest about the eyes. It looks like you've painted the whole eye black and then painted two white dots. You could try making those white dots a little bigger but personally I paint the eye socket a dark flesh color, then add white, and then the pupil which gives me a bit of leeway with regards to shape etc. What Antenociti stuff did you pick up?

WHITWORT - Lovely and characterful as always What colors did you use to paint the jacket (looks like dark green with a hint of blue and cream?).

ROTOKULTAXE - Lots of beautiful work, especially the OSL which is nice and understated. I see why you feel the grey is a little dark on the TAG but I'd leave it. Any lighter and it might look a bit plasticy where as at the moment it looks like a nice dark metal. I like the basing texture, but its a little plain to me. Have you though about maybe adding some brass etch signs or mesh to give them a more urban feel? Make sure you post a link to your infinity plog here when you start it.

KISANIS - Don't worry about it, life happens to us all. Keep me posted though yeah?

PERPLEXITI - I remember cleaning Morticias Belles up and how much of a nightmare they were. I ended up replacing all the poles on the umbrellas. The only thing I don't like about them is the glossy look, so I look forward to seeing them with a matt varnish

TAME - She's very nice. I always find my tans going a little too 'peachy'. As another VMC convert, welcome to the fold I just find them much more flexible in terms of glazing then GW paints.

KERAVIN - Or 'Mr Prodigious' I like your trollkin but I think Bonnacia is very plain and isn't at the same kind of standard. Whilst you've got stacks to paint, and I know your working to a deadline, I'd love to see you focus on just or two pieces for the whole month.

GRISNIK - The reds nice and leather looking, and the subtle highlights on the gun work nicely. I'm really looking foward to next months Koalas as I've always liked those.

THE JUDGE - Your arbiter reminds me a lot of Mr Ferals style, but a lot brighter which I like. The Mastiff though is by far my favorite model this month as the transition between the two shades of fur is really nicely done. I wish I'd bought him now The Bakunin is also rather lovely, especially the helmet. More of this please!

MORTICIA - You get all my supportive comments in person :P

ARCANUM - Lovely start you've got there. I think the flesh is okay for now, maybe another highlight or two. The small conversion works well, and thats a really nice muted gold color. Have you thought about maybe adding a verdi gris effect to the metal?

    AND A QUICK REPLY

GRISNIK - Try Maelstrom Games as they ship internationally, but it is a flammable product so I'm not sure if they'll ship outside of the UK. If you still have trouble, shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do as I have three hobby shops who stock it within a stones throw of me. It is absolutely beautiful stuff but doesn't like moisture...

    Great work so far everyone!

    Hi all,

    First off...

@Little Joe - Cheers mate, I'm sure I will end up using the crashed Venom as terrain too. Nice WIP on the Vstonin, I love the floating rock idea.

    @perplexiti - Thankies. Err Delves...?

@Grisnik - Cheers, thought it would be in-keeping with my Kill Team yet different enough to stand out.

@GomezAdams - Well they are for my Kill Team and I'm not going to do anymore Dark Eldar, unless if I wanted different weapons for the team. Galan is progressing well though things have slowed a little as being a Dad can be a tad demanding, lol.

    Next feedback on others...

@GomezAdams - Nice minis and paintjob, the guy on the left is pretty darn freaky, especially with the green eyes. For some reason, the lass with the big hat reminds me of Karate Kid and his shower costume

@EmperorNorton - That is one mean looking dog! I like your white-work and the subtle colouring around the muzzle. The rest look good and the white eyes make the kids look creepy.

@Basher - Nice gore. The lead zombie looks to have his brain exposed...grim.

@Little Joe - Good work, the Death Kiwi looks better now he's finished; those seed pods look good, what are they? The Varbres look like the bright colours have been toned down, works better I think. The Quar pigs are very characterful, much more interesting than a die for recording damage.

@Bubbatron - Nice work with these guys, especially Captain Black...hmm...I might have to pick up one of these as we must be related. Black Clan Ho!

@Whitwort Stormbringer - Good job, I especially like the skin, a lovely shade of blue.

@Rotokultaxe - Infinity models are small? What do you normally paint? Liking the subtle glow effect of the lenses. The TAG is awesome, a great paint job and a cool model. I really like the softness to the seed-soldier. The new basing paint looks to work well, what are your thoughts on it, worth the price?

@perplexiti - Wow those are shiny, mean looking bitches I like the delicate lace of the bodice on the centre mini.

@tame - I like the no-nonsense colour scheme that looks practical, I could see her walking off the battlefield covered in mud and dust.

@Keravin - Not seen the caber guys before, interesting idea. Good work and I'm really liking the dark skin on the guy in the front. One mini from month 2 finished already? You're a machine!

@Grisnik - Liking the blue spot colour...great minds

@The Judge - I like the haggard look of the Enforcer and a great job with the rottweiler. Nice job with the proweler too, that shade of blue is proving popular this tale!

@Morticia Adams - Thats a creey pair of minis and I really like the oily look on the rattler.

@Arcanum - You gave her a really grim-dark feel, nice.

Well I have made a start on Galan Quarterbane and he's coming along well. I'm still hoping to finish him and my PreePree from World of Twilight. Then it's on to the knights!

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - Month 1 finished pictures, WIP month 2

@GomezAdams - really liking the judge. Bonnaccia is an assassin so she gets a spot of colour, the white mask which doesn't really show the blending in the picture and that's it. I hate the idea of really obvious assassins. I'd go mad only painting one or two figures. It'll never happen, but the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor is one I'm hoping to take some time on.

@EmperorNorton - The Hamelin crew really go well together and the bases really sell them as a group.

@basher - nice and gory. The blood is a nice recipe. Care to share?

@little joe - I liked the Varbres, but the big bird is probably my favourite this month. The basing is fantastic. Savant Mortemer is a Forgeworld model that now comes with Inquisitor Lok. New Vaettir look good. What;s left to do on them?

@Hairynorseman _ I do like the speckled effect with the blue. I'll definitely go look at the Kill team. Got the one figure done as I probably won't get much painting done until the last week of the month. Really like the new model.

@Bubbatron - nice 'generic' sci fi guys. They are great at not looking like anyone at all Really looking forward to seeing those Heresy troopers on here.

@Whitwort - Caerten looks good. Do you have a plog so I can see more of what you've already done?

@Rotokultaxe - Probably prefer the Nomad scheme. Nice lighting effect and really like the Szalamandra.

@PERPLEXITI - Not seen the Belles before. I think the gloss detracts from your painting as they look too shiny. Looking forward to seeing them Matted. Thanks for the compliments. Another jack possibly this month, maybe next.

@TAME - Love the scheme. Particularly the yellow visor effect.

@GRISNIK - Liking the blue hair. I just think the bodysuit is looking a little empty. Maybe some logo to break up the read. Thanks for the comments.

@THE JUDGE - Definitely want to see more Inq28 in here. Are you going to do anything more to the two figures to 40ky them up a bit? Definitely a different approach to the dog and I really like it as a dog. Just think it masks the cyberhound a bit too much. First finished Enforcer I've seen. I'm less enamoured with the figure though I've stolen his head for another conversion. But the nomads with the blue helms are great.

@MORTICIA - Really like the Gunslinger. Are you planning on doing anything with their bases or waiting until they are all done?

@ARCANUM - the axe change works well. I wouldn't have been able to tell. You not able to claim the bathroom as a conversion?

I'm probably not getting a lot done until the last week of the month as I'm at a comic convention in just over a week, then work conference, then the UK Warmachine masters. But then a week off which will be nice though I do need to paint terrain. Got to get these Inq28 models done that week and made a big step forward with Vacetti the priest the other day. I do seem though to have started getting things done to various stages so it'll keep looking like I'm painting loads when it's a case of just finishing things such as the next Freebooter model and the Greylords.

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - Month 1 finished pictures, WIP month 2

    Feedback...

@Gomez: great proxy ideas, as always. Although, IMO, it's the judge that stands out the most. A dark color scheme fits him a lot.

@EmperorNorton: I agree with Gomez, it's the best you've shown us in the Tale of skirmish painters. Colors are all particularly fitting, and you've done a great, clean paint job. The dog is stunning.

@Basher: nice job! you made them particularly gruesome. What's your receipe for blood? it looks quite realistic.

@Little joe: cool models. Color scheme is well chosen, and the overall esthetics of the varbres improved since the WIP pics you showed us last month. The angry bird is probably your best model this month. The small blue feathers give it a nice, realistic touch.

@Hairy norseman: love the colors . very fitting. Looking forward to seeing more of your kill team models.

@Bubbatron: you did a clean job here, considering the models look really small. What scale are those models?

@Whitwort stormbringer: nice one. You payed a lot of attention to the small details and it shows. Dots on the skin is also a nice touch.

@Perplexiti: great choice of colors, very fitting. The one in the middle is your best overall. But I feel we are missing some details because of the shiny finish. Show them again once they're varnished, please.

@Tame : love the model, and love the official color scheme. And you did a great job with it. How are Vallejo paints (compared with GW or P3)? are they thinner and do they cover well?

@Keravin: you've got a very crisp and clean painting style. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your trollbloods.

@Grisnik: cool colors! the electric hair clue really stands out. Try highlighting the red with beige (bleached bone or the like) on the edges, but only a tiny bit. It will give more depth to the model.

@Keravin: nice model. I wish we had a better view of the base, it seems pretty good.

@The judge: wow! lots of great stuff. Great choice of color overall. The prowler is my favorite: the mask is excellently done.

@Morticia adams: impressive job, considering how small these models are. Very clean rattler.

@Arcanum: skin looks nice, but it might need a bit of highlighting. And the bra needs a bit of shading. The metal on the shoulder piece is indeed really well done.

    And replies...

@Little Joe and Gomez: I know about the bases. Problem is, at the moment, I don't know what to do to make them suitably clean-sci-fi and urban (Gomez, could you recommend a brass etch sign brand, I,ve never used any before). I'll leave them as is as long as I don't find something satisfying.

@Hairy norseman: thanks! Yes, they are small. I've been painting Malifaux models for the last few months, and unless I'm wrong, Malifaux models are 32mm while Infinity models are 28mm. When you're painting eyes, you really feel that difference. I'll try to post a comparison shot of an Infinity model besides a GW one. As for the new basing paints, I think it's cool because it's easy to use (although you need about 3 coats to get a uniform, satisfying look). For those models, I've simply put 3 or 4 coats of Astrogranite, and drybrushed lightly with bleached bone. I don't know yet if it is worth the price, I'll need to know first how many models I can base with a single pot. But right now, I would say it is a great tool for small skirmish games, but for large scale war games (such as 40K or WHFB) it would probably prove quite expensive.

All around some fantastic stuff guys.

I'll keep up on mine to get some stuff done and ready. Unpacking blows, sufficed to say I barely have a bedroom unpacked, let alone warhammer...

(although I did get a game in the other day, so thats a plus!)

    I've got lots to do!

Keep it up all. Some great painting!

@Keravin.. Might attempt logos and what not closer to the end when I can do a batch of them across many models. So I can try to get some sort of consistency on them, but agreed the red could be broken up a bit more..

@Rotokultaxe.. hadn't thought of bleached bone and red to break up the colors a bit more.. might give that a go on the next couple..

    @others.. thanks for the comments..

For the next batch, I have already started in on them..

Koalas are more of less finished.. though might take Roto's comments and work on them more.. then just need to paint their bases and attach them.
The Moran Hunter ( or as I like to call him the ***** Hunter ) is getting there.. I am not sure about the cloak.. I want to do more to it, but not sure as to what yet.. I didn't like his superhero default colors.. and the kilt cloak is a bit much.. but I might attempt some design along the bottom.. will see...

Not sure if I will get more done than these this month due to work travel, etc.. but then again its why we are in the Skirmish project yes?

    @Keravin - Cheers mate.

@Rotokultaxe - Thankies, you can see the Kill Team on my plog in my sig, no plans for more Kill Team minis yet though I do have some more sci-fi models I'm going to convert and paint up for some home brew rules, provisionally called Firefight (though that will change to the Jade Cluster I think). Ahh...would be interested to see a scale shot of them, ta.

@Perplexiti - Ahh, should have guessed really, lol. I've actually finished the Kill Team, check my sig. I wanted the objectives and the team to look different yet still have something that ties them together.

@Grisnik - Looks good so far. The cloak looks good, though I suppose you could dry brush the bottom to make it look dusty and tie it in with the base. Those koalas are cute but what do they actually do in-game?

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - Month 1 finished pictures, WIP month 2

its nice to see so many different ranges and styles of minis being painted for this, some really good work so far too, thanks for the advice on painting eyes, my normal way is to paint black, then white on top leaving a sort of black outline, then dot in the black pupil, might try a different way going off some of your suggestions

@Gomezadaams - really like the Malifaux stuff, have a decent sized Ramos crew myself, what range is the female mini from, dont recognize her, as to the Antenociti stuff, i picked up some Guardian Robots and a Zebu Land Cruiser

@Emperornorton - nice touch on the white eyes, really ties them all in, the bases look great too, are those inserts ?

@Basher, nice overall scheme there, where you not tempted to dirty them up a little more ?

@Littlejoe - think this was probably my first real exposure to Relics stuff, thanks to you ive chipped in for some Nuem !!! the eyes on them look great and im quite impressed at how effective the spinning vortex they have looks ! thanks for the eye advice too !

@Hairy Norseman - nice idea with the downed Venom as an objective, i love themed objectives, find it makes games that bit more interesting rather than fighting to capture a dice or bead !

@Whitwort Stormbringer - again another range ive never really looked at, had a good look at Salute too and some interesting minis, even if the do remind me a little of the anteater from Pink Panther !

@Rotokultaxe always been a fan of the infinity stuff and i love the glow youve achieved on them, something i could never really master ! the models ive used are standard 28mm crooked dice miniatures

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - Month 1 finished pictures, WIP month 2

Comments time - there are a lot of us this month!

@GomezAddams: Wow, like I mentioned before I really like the model choice for that Zoriada, but I think it's Corphelius that takes the cake this round. Really cool model and I think the eyes make it for me. Good choice on the posing, too - it looks great floating above that tombstone!

@EmperorNorton: I also think that these are the best group I've seen from you for ToSP so far - the color choices are excellent and the bases really add a lot of atmosphere to them.

@basher: Never seen these fellas before but I like them! I have a couple sprues of Warlord's Germans and Mantic zombies that I got back when they were running the Nazi zombie special, and still haven't put them together, but you've given me some renewed vigor for that project. Blood and gore looks good without being overdone.

@Little Joe: I love your darker palette for the Vaettir. The studio colors are nice but I think the dark tone with orange eyes is much more sinister. The death kiwi and quar pigs look great and your basing techniques are awesome! On the Vstonnin - will you be keeping parts of them stone-colored to represent their ability to turn their flesh to stone? The floating boulder is also a nice touch.

@Hairy Norseman: Nice patterning on the Venom wreckage! Vehicles are something that I've never been very comfortable painting on account of the large flat areas. Just checked out the accompanying kill team - also very cool!

@Bubbatron: Never seen these minis, kind of an 80's/retro sci-fi future dystopia police state look to them - I like it! I think the eyes are alright - a bit dramatic in contrast, but really not bad. Eyes are one of those things that everyone seems to have a different method for, if you're not quite happy with your results try a few different methods and see what works.

@Rotokultaxe: Lots of Infinity this round! Like Malifaux, this is another range that I'm somewhat ashamed to say I'm very unfamiliar with, I do like the "hard sci-fi" feel to them though. OSL on the tag looks great!

@Perplexiti: Belles look good but super-glossy! That matte varnish will take care of that, of course.

@tame: love the base on that figure, definitely gives an urban warzone feel to the whole thing.

@keravin: I love trollbloods! They came out quite well, especially the texture on the pillars. I've never picked any up because WM/H doesn't really appeal to me, but I've always wanted an excuse to get the models and if I can come up with another system/setting to put them in I'll probably go out and get some. I like the idea of the painted over/pillaged warjack, too.

@Grisnik: nice mini! I like the faceplate, the multiple eyeslits and blue dreads (reminiscent of predator hair) give a very alien appearance to the figure.

@The Judge: I've never seen that cybermastiff before, but I much prefer it to the standard robotic version with no skin. The handler is cool and looks very intimidating with that power-maul! Infinity prowler's faceplate reminds me of the EVA (I think?) helmet from Halo, nice job on that!

@Morticia: hahaha, that gunslinger puppet is really cute, in kind of a weird way! The rattler is cool too, just noticed that it's tail appears to end in a power cable. Looking forward to seeing more puppet wars.

@Arcanum: That is one cool mini, has a bit of a Final Fantasy feel to me (some of the more sci-fi influenced games like 7 & 8). I agree, the armored arm is really well done. I think her skin looks fine, but the hair could perhaps use one more highlight, or a wash/highlight for just a tad more definition.

    @

    And a few responses:

@Little Joe: The spots aren't too bad, actually, just as with any small detail it's important to make sure the paint is thin enough that it doesn't end up too raised off the mini, but not so thin that it readily bleeds. I do think the spots add a bit of character to each quar, though.

@Gomez: The jacket was a basecoat of Reaper master series Mossy Green, with successively more Citadel Codex Grey added for each highlight. Maybe a bit of cream for the last highlight? Hmm, can't remember now, I really need to start writing some of these recipes down...

@Keravin: Don't have a Warseer, plog, but if you want to slog through the previous ToSP threads you can find plenty more quar there or, probably easier, check out my thread on the Zombiesmith forums.

@Bubbatron: were they at Salute? I had no idea. Josh must not have been there, but that would be cool if someone had quar all the way across the pond. They do remind me a bit of the anteater form Pink Panther. They also remind me of Gogo the Dodo.

The great thing about the dwarves is that, even though there's this comic element, when they fight - they really fight!

@Bubbatron - My thoughts exactly, plus it can double up as terrain...you can never have enough crashed vehicles

@Whitworth Stormbringer - Cheers mate.I know what you mean, I do tend to find them a tad boring to paint but this was fun and quick.

@Bubbatron: Nope, it's just gloss varnish. I'm pretty ham-handed so wanted the extra protection from a gloss, I'll be hitting them with a matt varnish when I pick some up.

ROTOKULTAXE - Try PK pro who do all sorts of modern signage or theres scale link UK who do lots of meshes, numbers, chain... its worth a rummage around even if they don't have exactly what you need for infinity as theres bound to be something in there to put on the back burner. And the sheets are quite big.

BUBBATRON - The female mini is from Tales Of Wars ron and bones range although there casting isn't amazing...

WHITWORT - Exactly what I was going for. I'm going to see if I can get some flowers for the grave at some point.

So guys were at the half way point already (is it just me or has this month gone very quickly?). As I'm busy with work, end of term uni assignment, and my secret project it looks like I'm only going to get one figure done this month.

I would have her all based and probably finished tonight but somehow I've ran out of glue.

@GomezAddams: Nice new project and with sublime dots. And finally a shot of your work is up as well. A nice bloody tooth something. The Aurelia is a nice miniature, but with unnecesary boob flash (no dots, just a bar). The judge looks fine but needs a base done. Very nicely painted, all of them, you sure give us something to go and check out.
Why not get Coat d'Arms red ink? I thought it was the old GW stuff. Inks were a bit too heavy on colours in my opinion.
I will post a few thoughts on basing after the weekend, I will be gone for a few days.

Five down, a few to go.

    Current project, no secrets here:

A Warploque Miniatures forest troll, the skin has six layers and more to come for a nice natural finish. I want this one to actually look like a forest, so no worries, the bright base colours will all be taken care of.
