    Franzpedo Empire 2500

    Fantasy Army: Empire
Ok, so I have always loved Karl Franz, as he and I share a first name, and with the new book out, I am tempted to try and make an army revolving around him. However, as I play in a very competitive group, I wouldn't want to put him on Deathclaw or the Dragon. So, here is my idea of a Franz list that uses him without relying on him.

Franz with Ghal Maraz on Pegasus
-Monster hunter extrordinare, and kills warmachines. 18" LD 10 is super helpful. Basically, he is the swiss army knife of this list

Lvl 4 Wizard (Lore of Life)
    - Heals guys, helps keep infantry alive. Basically the standard lvl 4. No magic items, as he and Franz are exactly 625 points.

BSB (Full plate, enchanted shield, Dawnstone)
    - Basic BSB. A 2+ rerollable save will help him live
Warrior Priest (speculum and dragonhelm. Heavy armour and shield)
    - Swapping stats and a 3+ save mean that he is fairly survivable, and can buff his unit

44 Swordsmen with full command and 2 5-man detachments of free company
    - BSB goes here. Free company redirect and are amazingly useful. In my experience, they are one of the most useful units empire can field

10 Handgunners with a 5-man free company detachment
    - Wizard Lord can go here

10 Handgunners with a 5-man free company detachment
    -Shoots stuff

    34 Greatswords with full command
    - Choppy block o' death. Warrior priest goes here and they just annihilate stuff with 30 WS4 S5 attacks and stubborn means they aren't going anywhere

    Steam Tank
    - Flank protector and cannon

    Steam Tank
    - Because screw you, that's why.

So, questions? Comments? All advice is appreciated, but my models are limited. I don't have any other state troops, or new models, but lots of knights, outriders, and war machines.

After some thinking, I realized that a list built around the new mobility of Empire could be super good. It'd be something like this:

    Franz on peg

Wiz lvl 4 Lore of life

    Luthor

    Ludwig

16 Inner Circle knights with full command and the armour piercing banner

10 handgunners with 2 detachments of 5 free company

14 Greatswords with a detachment of 5 free company
    - to protect the wizard lord and help secure a flank. Being stubborn should help them delay a tough opponent from getting to my knight bus

    5 Outriders
    - Fast, shooty, awesome

    5 Outriders

    Steam Tank

    Steam Tank

Which of these two lists do you guys prefer?

Looks like you lost this game in the "purchase models" phase.
Why is it always the innocents who suffer most, when you high lords play your game of thrones?

    Very competative and killy.

I'd stay with list 1 since greatswords ARE awesome and 35 of them is just epic with Ld10.

Not my cup of tea though. Good luck
Never argue with a fool, he will only bring you down to his level, and then beat you out of experience.

Don't rely on your steam tank as a cannon. It can only shoot directly forward and you CANNOT pivot on the spot before shooting because of the stupid steam engine rule you have to spend at least 1 SP on the engine and move D6 after pivoting to turn towards your target.
