Thanks for the show and tell about those leveled pikes. I had not envisioned those guys as you did them with the 60 by 20mm base. I have some of those bases left over/bits. I did not "think of it". Lack of "vision" OR just a senior moment for this 68 year old. Thanks for the photos....now my vision is improved.

Those latest troops DO look good by the by.
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?

Very nice update there. I too think that thesse troops are looking really, really nice. I like how you throw all these colours in there - not sure if I would dare to do that on an TYW army but it looks very good. Old Radebrecht turned out nice as well. I wish I had a ton of those old shields. They are just so versatile in their uses. Keep it up (despite the fevers )!

No worries, you're never too old to learn, not even at your age!

    Thanks.

Thanks mate. I'm adding even more colours now, both turquoise and purple! I also found an old "fat merchant" made by Grenadier 1988, I'll strip it from the paint I started to add twenty years ago and paint it up anew. I think he can either join the cannon crew, or be the owner of the mule team I painted up a few years ago and need a reason to use in a game. I'm also painting up the pikeman "Mehmet the Turk", a wholly amoral sell-sword. Though who knows if he really is a Turk? He may be a hidden Jew?

I've been trying to find an excuse to buy a box of the Firelocks sitting in my FLGS. I think I just found it.

I haven't dropped by in a while, and it looks like you've made lots of progress! They are looking really good, mrtn!

I just happened across this for sale thread over at TMP (the pic with the sprue is about 20 pictures down in the post). The picture of the sprue shows two sets of arms with two different types of muskets.

Just dropped by your fantasy log and thought I should check out the Thirty Years War log again. (I don't usually check out the historical logs)
2 pages flew by really quick it seems, love what you've done so far. I think the "less regimented" gray uniforms do look pretty sweet and make for good variety in the army.

Thanks. I agree, if I were to make a pure Empire army I'd go the same route, it's a tiny pet peeve of mine that there are too many uniforms in Warhammer.

Re: mrtn's Thirty Years of War

I think Codsticker was referring to post#20. But anyway, report him for spamming, do it now!

I like the the less uniformed (or not uniformed at all) look as well and in systems that have blocks of infantry you don't really need them too much either. In say 40k or something like that, a common colour scheme helps a lot but in P&S for example you have these very coherent blocks anyway so some variety in colour doesn't hurt at all.

So when can we expect the next updates?

    Hi,
You've got some really great looking models there! I think the variety of colours really adds to the feel of the period, and the muted tones are excellent! Have just started painting up a small group of Perry ECW minis, so this is a great source of inspiration.

Thank you, I hope you post pics of your minis when you finish them.

Here are the last two batches with finished bases.

In the last pic you see the swarthiest member of the regiment.

Now I'm working on the last infantry from the box, and have started on the cuirassiers I bought from Warlord's Jubilee Sale.

Re: mrtn's Thirty Years of War

    Thanks sigur!

Here is finally the last batch from this regiment. It took me two months to do which is quite fast, considering I was busy at school for half the time.

And here is a regiment shot:

Twho months for that? That is indeed fast. I can tell you're behind this project with enthusiasm. They look really great together. So! First battalia done as soon as you get a commander and a gun crew. Next up will be cavalry then?

Yeah, that is about 3X the minis I would paint in two months. Well done.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm working on cavalry now.

Here is the smallest conversion I've ever done, and proof that you should never throw bits away. The little skull is from the helmet of a space marine...
