    LF unusual BA color schemes

Pretty much what title says, i dont want to use the same old "red and gold" scheme for my BA army, so im trying to find inspiration from some existing unusual color schemes for this army.
Unfortunately google has been of no help so far.

    Can anyone help?

P.S. im not looking for "weird" stuff like "paint them ultramarine and pretend they are BA". Im talking something that fits, but is not the over-overused standard colors.

Im mostly concerned about SG in this regard.

Checked out any of the BA successor chapter colours? Some of them are quite interesting, from the deep, dark, red of the Flesh Tearers to the yellow and chequer pattern of the Lamenters.

If you want Blood Angels exclusively, then your best bet is to play around with the tones of the existing scheme. If your open to successor chapters, then look to them for inspiration. The Lamenters, for example, have a radically different scheme from most of the established BA successors.

As for Sanguinary Guard, if your not a fat of the official Blood Angel chapter scheme of gold, the Angels Encarmine might be an option. Their official scheme is a blood red with black backpacks, shoulder banding and yellow/gold chest aquilla. However, their sanguinary guard and death companies are alabaster white rather than gold.

Rogue Trader era Marines sometimes wore camo schemes. There's one image of some BA marines fighting orks dressed as Aliens (yes -those- Aliens, the APC in the background even has huge nods toward the Aliens NPC). The Marines are in a red-brown over black dapple / giraffe scheme.

Edit: For SG; why not go for a high-gloss, polished leather or candycoat scheme?

Alternately, if you want to go outside the box, I would say the best thing to do is find a core colour you like, regardless of the chapter colours, and then work around it. Yes, blood angels like to feature red and black as big colours, but nobody said You had to. You could do your Blood Angels as pre-heresy World Eaters with white and blue armor. You could do a Khorne-aligned Marine force, with any of Khorne's style colours (dark red, black, brass, etc). Find a colour or a concept and go with it - following the core trends can be boring.

Weathering, local lighting conditions and differences in material can justify a huge variation in colour, even when sticking to an established scheme. The red parts of Blood Angel's armour can be burgundy, maroon, crimson, scarlet, russet or vermillion. The gold might be coppery, dark bronze, almost silver, ochre or any number of shades of yellow-brown, metallic or otherwise. Plates may fade from one colour to another or vary from section to section. Dust, dirt and oxidization can sigificantly alter the colour scheme too.

I think I'd quite like to see a more understated look for Blood Angels, since you mostly see them painted extremely brightly. Mix browns and flesh tones into the reds to dull them down. Paint the details which would usually be gold or bright yellow in a pale ochre or tan colour. Make things which would usually be black dark grey instead.

For sanguinary guard, maybe look at images of statues and suchlike. Painting their armour to look like stone or heavily oxidised bronze should give them some gravitas while also keeping them restrained.

Even a lighter red contrasted with something like Warplock Bronze might look interesting and different. The darkness of the Bronze would give a nice contrast and it would make the Sanguinary Guard, in Bronze, look much more sinister in their own way.

So long as some shade of red is a significant colour on all your BA models, you could have almost any other colour as well (even a different colour for each unit type?). Yellow/orange would be an interesting choice, if you like an overall 'flame' visual theme. A metallic would definitely be useful for detailing - bronze as suggested above, or silver would be my suggestions, both go well with red.
