This is just for eyes, but it might help you get the idea down for doing it for the necrons.

The technique you want to research is Object Source Lighting often shortened to OSL. The BaCS link is pretty good. There's another classic article by a guy called Cyril on CMoN: http://www.coolminiornot.com/article...-eyes-by-cyril
Basically you need to highlight up the areas that will produce the light then use very thin glazes of that colour and paint areas around the source. The darker tones should be further out and the lighter tones closer to the light source.

Their more about the theory behind the process than they are specifically about Necrons, but once you understand how to do it, you can apply it to whatever you want.
