I am building a vanilla marine shooting list.
Is this an effective choice ? Could it be considere too effective and therefore cheesy by anyone ?

Not cheesy, heavy shooting is what Marines do. In combat they fold like... well not like Tau... but they fold against dedicated assault units. That said, Blood Angels and Space Wolves can both do shooting better for cheaper.
It's sad that "assault" focused armies are better at shooting than the balanced marine Codex.
"Reason is a thing of God, inasmuch as there is nothing which God the Maker of all has not provided, disposed, ordained by reason - nothing which He has not willed should be handled and understood by reason" Quintus Tertullian
It's a looong way from cheesy! Underpowered even.
Auto-Las Predators would be much better than Dakka Preds.

Looking at top lists these days, full mech or full 2+ save infantry (dragiowing, is the new kid on the block!) there is no limit on heavy weapons (autocannon/lascannon/melta/plasma etc.) you should take. That is the current state of the game, if you have 20 heavy weapons in your list and have the option to take more, make some points free and take more!
If you are not playing maximum tournament top level, I consider dakka preds good (I usually use 3 myself) for armor 13 and decent shooting for 85pts they are a steal. But you are losing on heavy weapons. So you should realize you are losing out on heavy weapons and go about nuking armor different or get other slots filled with heavy weapons, more speeders or anti tank dreadnoughts for example.
So you'll do fine when not playing (against good opponents with) top net-lists and looks good to me, but you should post your entire army with your regular opponents and their list to get good feedback, otherwise you will only get a references to top tournament lists/units which are just simply better at handling the current meta game.

about 1750pts...
2 dreads with assault cannon and missile launcher
4 10man tactical squads with plasma gun and missile launcher
3 predators
1 vanilla land raider with multi melta
1 tactical terminator squad with assault cannon
1 chapter master with term armour thunder hammer and storm sheild
all about about 1750, was thinking of trying to fit a razor back in there but don't have the model yet.
hate the captain b.c he costs too many points...

correction, put in a naked chapter master instead of captain and I have enoguh to give him a SB and take a razor back with 35pt upgrade for under 1750..
or I could just take out the terms and play 1500.... lol
From my experience (i know anecdotes are next to useless according to some people but there all I have :P) the 2 Dakka Preds I fielded did well against the armies I faced in a recent Kent tourney. Allowed me to hose enemy marines in cover - where weight of fire counts for more than low AP weapons. Allowed to to hose down 40 Nids within 2 turns (admitedly took most of my army) and caused problems for Necrons, again due to volume of fire. I'm trying out a list tonight with 2 Auto/Las Preds and 1 Dakka Predator, supported by Landspeeders (3 Squadrons of 2x 1 Typhoon and 1x 2 MM/HF) and Riflemen dreads.
