    tomb kings 1000 need ideas

    Fantasy Army: BoC
My brother wants to start tomb kings. And 1000 points for a.starter is what is used at my local shop.

He really likes the neccropilis knights. He loves shooting stuff I think both some chariots and a casket are necessary for him. Anything can be changed as long as he gets some knights if they cannot fit in 1000 then it can be uped to 1500.

I'll offer what advice I can, but really a lot depends on how well he can pick up on the subtle tactics of the game. Just let him know that tomb kings are a more challenging army to play.

Anyways 1k points I would recommend a list similar to this. The idea is to include the fun toys while still trying to be effective.
High liche priest level 3 or 4, depending. Maybe give take the ruby ring.
Some archers for the priest to sit in
A unit of chariots, if you're going very competitive and understand how to redirect and how to take advantage of the deployment phase, replace them with 2 units skeleton horsemen.
2 units of 3 necropolis knights
    And finally a casket.
My goal for the year is to get another 100 models painted.
    So far I haven't touched a brush.

I'd probably keep them at the minimum number until you see how many left over points you have. When I write up lists I'll wait to see if I'm still under 25% core before I increase the size of the archers units or if I'm done writing the list but have 40 points left over. Then I'll just spend those on archers.

Oh so the block is just for look out sir and so he doesn't get sniped instead of actually being able to cause damage.

Pretty much. The list he mentioned is a really good starting point. It will perform well against some and die terribly against others. If you take the models he mentioned and a lvl 3, you will come in at 975 with no command options or magic items.. It is not a super balanced, all comers style list, but like I said, it is a good place to start and you will not regret any of those models.

The catapults are good, both sphinxes are great ( it is also very easy to magnetize for both options), carrion are amazing just ugly models. I converted all of mine from the stalker bodies. Stalkers don't get any web love but I always try to squeeze them in as they are usually my mvp's. Scorpions are awesome models but get even less web love than the stalkers because they are terrible war machine hunters. My logic is, if the suck at hunting war machines, why use them for that? they do make awesome surprise redirectors and later turn pests though

Tomb kings have a steep learning curve and can actually be made competitive in so many ways. Start collecting the models and have fun

Thanks for the advice. I've seen a unit if 8 necroknights eat empire hordes like crazy.
