    purple sun and zombies

What happens if I take My own purple sun (small template) and blast it through a unit I own ? Could I do this?

You may ask why you would do this. Think about it from a vampires perspective. I take a 50 man large squad of zombies and I blast a small template through it. It would obliterate 20+ zombies usually and you would probably get 6-10 power dice back. Could you do this? A good casting or two of IoN could bring them back. Really boost the magic phase. Would work wonders with Manfred who has loremaster 2 lores or a powerstone necromancer.

Magical Vortices are placed in base contact with the caster and with their centre in the caster's front arc, then a direction is nominated. No other restrictions.

If you want to bulldoze 30 zombies to try to get 10 power dice back go for it, you just need your wizard facing them.

Seen it done. As an additional side effect, the vortex stopped at the front of the unit - and then some frenzied marauders charged the zombies. It made a big hole....

Can't see anything in the BRB that prevents you to do it. SO yes, it seems legal.

Second part of this question. Is doing this considered cheese/bad taste/waac?

Hmm, I've done something like this before, but it was Dark elves vs Dwarves.

My executioners were loosing combat vs some dwarfs due to the number difference, so I decided to help them by running a boosted purple sun in their direction, It wasn't pretty but my executioners came out on top ^^

While blowing up your own troops is never cheese, it may be a bit in bad taste to do it to generate mass dice, myeh. On the other hand it requires you to cast a fairly high value spell first, and if it's dispelled, or it misfires and scatters the wrong direction, you've wasted dice for nothing.

This would actually feel right in character for me. A Vampire sacrificing his minions to obtain their magical essence. Might be nasty though.

Oddly enough I wouldn't have a problem with this.
A boy played in the sandbox with no one to mind him,
When quietly a mixing truck pulled up behind him.
He peeped not a peep, cried out nary a cry —
Just his sandals stuck out when the concrete was dry.

Go for it - seems more than fitting and in-character.

I asked the cheese thing because I had a friend say if I do this, he will never play me again.

You can, but I don't know why you'd expect to get 10 dice back from 20 kills. I'd also like to point out that chances are you are using 4-6 power dice for the chance to get roughly the same back; doesn't seem like sound tactics to me.

Maybe power stone the sun or try on 3 dice. You have to make it benificial numbers wise.

    Re: purple sun and zombies

Even as an item, the Power Stone is still two dice you are pissing away for the chance of getting them back. This isn't Power of Darkness where you can reliably get more dice back.

    Re: purple sun and zombies

Waste of time effort and energy, you'll just end up miscasting and sucking your vamp into the warp or losing lvls and powerdice to gain less poweerdice.or worse set it works and you get a dispel scroll on the spell you really wanted.

It's perfectly legal, but that's settled.
I couldn't call it cheese or gamey either. Quite characterfull for Vampires actually.
Viable? Hm.. Well, was it T10 who said wasting the enemy's troops is even better? haha +1 to that.

The friend of yours who promises never to play you again.. *meh* Is he 12 years old or something?

Go for it! I'm sure it'll result in a good laugh whatever happens. I mean, opponant might actually opt not to dispel it in which case you could cast it with minimum effort.. and after that, god knows what will happen really.

    Re: purple sun and zombies

So you spend a bunch of power dice, risk miscast and destroy a bunch of troops to potentially gain a few extra power dice? Doesn't seem cheesy to me.
