So since we have scans of next month's WD, is there any mention of a big 40k release next month? (40k 6th ed)

No Signature right now.
Well I just find it odd there's no back page unexplained date like we usually get, like for this flyer stuff,
No Signature right now.
Planned advertising and leaks are not the same thing though. It feels weird that something that is supposed to be a big deal is going to be presented at the last moment.
Prepare to be massively disappointed then. Just look at the WFB 8th edition release. Skaven got a new book a little before the new edition and High Elves are the 3rd or 4th oldest book in fantasy at the moment, with vague rumours that there might be some elves next year. So clearly GW doesn't think that releasing new books for the starter set races are a requirement. And frankly, I think they are right. Especially when dealing with marine models. Depending on how DA branded they are, and how fussy you are there are what, half a dozen different books you could use them with if you wanted. And the starter set is really aimed at new players who are unlikely to know and/or care about rumours of an updated codex.
This.
Games Workshop isn't like a Video Game company. A VG company can hype up a video game YEARS in advance, sometimes even 10 years. They can do this because the hype of that video game will not interfere with other games that they're making. People aren't going to forego the current game to 'save up' for the next game. They can enjoy both because both are going to be between 40-60 bucks USD, and they'll be spread apart appropriately so as not to saturate the market (for example, you'll seldom see two Zelda games released in the same year).
Games Workshop knows that their products cost a lot. A rulebook is 50+ dollars... a starting force might run you as little as 100 for a starter box or as much as 500 for a full horde force, just at the low point levels, and it could cost upwards of 2000 dollars to get a grand army just the way you want it at a high level of points and large number of options.
That said, not everyone has a thousand dollars to drop on a hobby every month when a new army or edition comes out. And here's the other thing... GW REPLACES product. Zelda: Twilight Princess did not replace Zelda: Ocarina of Time, they are two separate games that can still be enjoyed fully and independently. 6th edition is going to REPLACE 5th edition. You could still technically enjoy 5th edition... but when the new Codices start to drop and they're made for 6th edition, you're going to start to miss out, especially on all the shiny new kits.
Therefore, it is in Games Workshop's best interest to withhold this information for as long as possible. When Timmy goes to a GW store and wants to play a game today, the clerk is going to try and sell little Timmy a 5th edition Rulebook. Timmy's mom isn't going to be too excited about that prospect if she knows that the Rulebook is about to be replaced and that the clerk is essentially selling Timmy a bunk rulebook that's going to be going out of date real soon. However, from GW's perspective, that's one less 5th edition rulebook that's going to be sitting in inventory or thrown into a dumpster.
Well, sorta. While they were never crazy about rumors, probably for those reasons, the word on the street is that the latest hardcore clampdown is one of the terms of their agreement with New Line Cinema/MGM.
I see that being true, but GW has never advertised products well in advance.
Little Timmy's mom is going to be livid after finding out that the $50 rule book she just bought has expired a month after she bought it, and has to buy another $50 rulebook for little Timmy. If I were a parent, who wasn't initiated into the hobby world, I'd say no to little Timmy's need for the new shiny book.

Don't gamesworkshop normally do some sort of deal about new edition books, can't remember what it was but I'm sure I brought a 4th edition starter game, an a month later got a discount on the new rule book or something along these lines.
Beaner
The last 3 codexes had fluff practically rewritten from the ground up. New units get pulled out of thin air all the time, most recently in tomorrow's WD. It's practically certain they will invent new units for DA when the Codex gets redone. At least jetbikes have some basis in existing fluff. But maybe I'm wrong, they might get something completely random.

I'd welcome something new that wasn't a jetbike squad. DA's already get the ravenwing bike squads which are totally fine, we really dont need another ravenwing squad like that.
Anything else will do just fine. Please and thank you.
Here you are forgetting about Parent Guilt (TM) They work massive hours and dont see little Timmy enough. Then they leave him for 4 hours in GW because they dont want to drag hiom around the shops. Then they come back and Timmy says "Oh Look mum the NEW rulebook is out. Its the bestest thing ever and I must oh must have it or my friends wont play with me and I cant play in the store" Mummy and Daddy go Arg, £50 for pretty much unlimited childcare while shopping on a Saturday? Out comes the Credit Card faster than anything.
GW want you to buy the new rulebook, but by not telling you about it till its the last minute you dont stop buying the stuff right now. Then you, because you have to, find the cash for the new rulebook so that you can continue playing.
They have in the Past. When I worked there over the changover from 2nd the 3rd they did exactly that, and I was told before 4th came out that if I bought another copy of third Id get money off 4th when it came out. I doubt they'll do it now though personally.
Agreed but Jetbikes are very much one of the unique things for Eldar, and if they do Bring them back for Contempory 40k (Rather than the Rumoured 30k supplement) then it Further compounds the Marines have everything problem. I do think that Jez wants to keep his children unique and so will push for Jetbikes to be Eldar only.

Somebody suggested the idea of an actual pastic DA Deathwing terminator kit similar to the Wolf-Guard Kit that Space Wolves have could be a possibility.Anyway, to contribute something useful to the thread, I hear from a well-placed source that Deathwing Terminators will be in the starter box. Which is awesome, except that it means that everyone and his dog will have a Deathwing force, and I wanted to be a special little flower, one of the few who had them. Oh well.
Anybody think that this could be a thing?
