Horus Heresy book from Imperial Army perspective?

Will we get any? Legion might be argued to be such a book in disguise, but it would be nice with one focusing on the Imperial Army the way Nemesis focuses on the Assassinorum, The Outcast Dead on the Astra Telepathica, and Mechanicum on... well, the Mechanicum obviously.

Would such a book sell? Would it be a rip off of Gaunt's Ghosts? Would it, most importantly of all, be as awesome as I imagine?

    Cheers,

I don't see how it would be a rip-off of GG unless you consider all the 40k IG novels to be ripoffs of it. The tone and setting is completely different in 30k compared to 40k, not to mention that the Imperial Army is a combined force that uses Land Raiders and superheavies on a normal basis.

I'd certainly like an IA novel, but I'd like to see authors who haven't really written for the Guard in 40k to write them, more so to get that fresher perspective on things. People like Graham or Chris or John or Nick. That said, I wouldn't be averse to have Rob or Dan write it (them) either.

And, it'll be a HH novel. It'll be a guaranteed sell.

Yeah, I guess it wouldn't need to be as 'grimdark' and depressive as 40k Guard novels. (Dead Man Walking springs to mind).

    I'd like to see one.

Army heavily involved. Horus Heresy. Should be something interesting.

Hmmm. Battle of Tallarn? Largest armored warfare battle in the galaxy? Side show of Iron Warriors, Titans, ect. Reduces a planet to waste?

What I meant with rip-off of GG was merely that it would turn into just another generic IG novel. I too think that the tone and setting should be sufficiently different in 30k to avoid that, hopefully

The battle of Tallarn could work well indeed, though I do hope they go for some less famous regiment, something like the Outremar, Geno Five-Two Chiliad, or some regiment we haven't encountered before in the series.

I think the planetary invasion in Prospero Burns sets a pretty nice precedent for scale and tone, while Legion has a nice feel to the Army. Anyway. Fingers crossed that this novel shows up soon!

    Cheers,
