Large Individual Mordheim battles?

Greetings everyone.

I am interested in trying out a large Mordhiem game where each player gets 1500 GC to buy their warband. The problem of course is the max model limit (Both for the warband and individual models in the warband) would be a hinderance. I want to be able to increase the max limit for each warband (I.e in a NG warband the max size is 30 and mabye trolls are 0-2 instead of 0-1) but I'm afraid of screwing up the balance by doing so.

Has anyone ever tried increasing model limit sizes for larger games and if so does it work alright?

Might as well be playing Warhammer, but for increasing models in Mordheim one idea you could use is to add one/two henchmen heroes to represent as leaders of their henchmen groups, depending on the warband.

I've never had a problem with needing more people in a warband, as I've found the optional rules of buying upgrades more than sufficient to sink my money into, as well as hired swords and extra equipment. For example, an undead warband kitted out in 1500gc:

Vampire - Sword, Sword, Heavy Armour, Helmet, Bow, +Swordsmen, +Lightning Reflexes, +Leap = 320
Necromancer - 2-hander, +4 spells (unless spell rolls go good, then some easy casting skill like mind focus) = 210
Dreg#1 - Sword, Shield, Light Armour, Helmet, + Strength, +Toughness, +Wound = 140
Dreg#2 - 2-hander, Heavy Armour, Helmet, +Strongman, +Attack = 175
Dreg#3 - Axe x2, Heavy Armour, Helmet, +Attack, +Strength, +WS, +Leap = 195
Dire Wolves x5 = 250
Ghouls x5 = 200

One suggestion would be to use multiple FOCs. Just run with two Warbands, each one requiring a leader and the like.
