Thread: Size of your gaming group?

Re: Size of your gaming group?

Not a single GW store in the state I live in (New Mexico) until last year the nearest game stores are a 60 mile drive away ( 120 miles round trip). We do have an independent game store called The Realm which is mostly driven toward card games but they do a 40k day on the weekend. They don't sell any GW products due to the very costly buy in price that GW is asking for, but they are ok with us playing games there.

There is 12 fantasy players that I know of and of those 12 I play 2 of them on a regular basis, right now we are playing a tournament with ten players taking part.
    eighth edition score board

    Vampire Counts New Book : victories - 1 , losses - 3 , draws - 1 old book V - 3 , L - 13 , D- 2

About 15 of us in the south of Holland, near Rotterdam. Playing 40K and Fantasy.

Good crowd, nice guys, lots of painted armies and a good tradition with M &Ms.

In my "group" (for lack of a better word) theres about 5-8 people, but over the years, it's changed quite a lot due to people leaving for things like work or university and people have joined the group too. Therre's also people who I talk to the hobby with but never really get the chance too play due to my own restrictions
Apologies in advance if any of my post appear to have words missing letters, my keyboard is faulty and I refuse to get another one.
After reading Valkia's book, I've come to this conclusion: Vakia is a strong, independant consort of Khorne, who don't need no mortal man to bring her down.

We're five friends who started a gaming group in our city and we recently got sponsored by the Swedish gaming and rpg association Sverok. We now have around twelve members, but only seven have sizeable armies and the ones who play the most are us original five. We meet every tuesday to play Warhammer, Magic and some boardgames as well as just hang out and paint.

10 in our humble band, primarily fantasy but we do 40K, card and board games as well as GW specialist games.
I do 1 night a week, but as 2 of the lads live at the place we play there is almost always a game to be had.

    Hello Rob.

Seven years ago, There were about 8 members in my group. I have no idea where one of them is now. One moved to Connecticut and is attending Law School at Harvard. One moved to Oregon and earned a Bachelor's degree in Music. He isn't coming back to Utah. I had a falling out with one when I started dating his ex-girlfriend. I regularly see 3 of the original members. One switched to Warmachine (which wasn't interesting to most of our group) and then mostly gave up wargaming when he couldn't find opponents. He has a mild interest in it now, but real life caught up with him and he games probably twice a year. One member gave me all his 40k minis and no longer plays tabletop games. He became a 3D animator for EA and spends most of his hobby time playing video games or watching films. The last one stopped playing when the majority of our group fell apart after the release of 5th edition 40k. Years later, I tried playing 40k with him. It just frustrated him to recall the endless arguments it caused in our teenage years. He no longer plays any tabletop games.

Now, (including me) there are 2 in my regular group. My only regular opponent is my brother. We meet for a game about once a month; sometimes once every two months.

Be grateful for the gaming buddies you've got. You'll miss them when they're gone.

Myself plus four others make the group. We are trying to combine with the group of four that plays at the LGS but they insist on using a 25 page long comp pack and the five of us are strictly out of the BRB players.

Its hard to size it up correctly. Two of us are bitter enemies, 15 years and counting, that still play on à regular basis.. Then we Have the two new recruits (2years) that play fairly regularly. And then there is 3 more bitter enemies from way back which honour us with visits and games every once in à while.. À grand total of seven whfb players..

There's 9 or so of us currently, but we're pretty widely spread, and all busy with other stuff as well, so we never get together as a whole group. Tends to be a few of us once or twice a month.

So far just my girlfriend. Lol. I just moved to Omaha and have yet to find a good wfb shop or place to battle with others.

Re: Size of your gaming group?

The Portland, OR area has probably around 50-60 fairly regular WFB players (going by our local Forums) and my regular weekly group at Dice Age Games in Vancouver, WA (just over the river from Portland) has around 15-16 WFB players, 10-12 of those are regular weekly players. I typically get 10-16 players at the one-day events I run and am currently running a Blood in the Badlands campaign with 12 players. We had to expand the map by another Mighty Empires set to accommodate all the players that wanted in on that one. But that is a good problem!

Re: Size of your gaming group?

I most often play with either my boyfriend or my boyfriends brother. Maybe once every two months, his nephew comes over to play a game (or we play a 2 vs 2 game together).

We kinda draged in two of our friends to play, but since one of them is currently in Finland for work and the other is still assembling his army, that doesn't really work yet.

So, 4 players at the moment :-(
We're playing 40k and Fantasy though, to keep it interesting

I play regularly with 4 close friends, and irregularly with a couple more, so I guess you could count that as a group of six? We don't play that often, as several of us, myself incuded, hae moved away from where we all used to live, but get together when life stuff isn't happening, and it's always a good laugh. We've all known each other for years, so these days gaming's more of an excuse to get together.

Sponsored? How? What are the requirements and benefits of being sponsored by them?

    It's hard to say.

I have two clubs, and a few non-club affiliated opponents.

If I got them all together at once, you could be talking about 20-25 minimum.

There's a GW not too far away (easy car or train trip), but I'd rather poke my eyes out with a sharp stick than go and play there...

Re: Size of your gaming group?

At the local gaming club, 40K used to be played the most in past years, and I just returned from a long "break".. From 2005 - 2009 there were only a handful of WHFB players, since everyone disliked 7th edition, and thought 40K was far more fun.. So for that period I played with 2 or 3 guys, which got rather boring over time. But now, it seems 8th edition has brought in both new and old players.

The club moved recently, and when I decided to pick up playing again, I joined a WHFB campaign that has - to my surprise - 17 participants at the moment, but I know of around 10 more WHFB players in the area. =)
