Adeptus Arbites Army (New pics 120629)

    Hi guys!
This is the beginning of my latest 40K-project, an Adeptus Arbites army based on bunch of Necromunda Enforcers boxes. I do not aim for excellence when it comes to painting, but am still nourishing a dwindling hope that there is some pleasure to be had looking at these pics. Hope you enjoy them!

Looking very nice. Interesting color scheme you have there - definitely not the "classic" Arbites scheme. I too am interested in seeing your thought on an Army List.

My own army, which is currently on the sprue (using mostly plastic cadians and plastic SM parts) will probably be fielded using the Imperial Guard codex, though that doesn't really give me any good options for fielding Maul/Shield models. (In friendly games, I will of course use my custom Arbites Codex - see the link in my sig below).

The Grey Knights codex almost works, if you ignore the fact that you can't arm anybody with Shotguns. (I assume you would just take Warrior Acolytes and have their shotguns "count as" something else - say bolters or storm bolters - and say they are using Executioner shells.) Crusaders make great maul/shield troops, Arco Flagellents can stand in as decent Cyber-Mastiffs, etc.

Thx, guys! I chose the scheme because I wanted something different, yet easy to paint. I hope it looks policey enough. I will be using a modified fandex, that I'm currently play testing. I will check out yours though, Ambience, it seems interesting.

As a matter of fact I am, although a bit toned down. Some of the stuff seemed overpowered. I've also brought point costs and rules up to date. The fandex by it self is very inspiring though, with lots of different units, that all have a unique feel to them, and a different role to fill.

Thanks! You do post some pics - Arbites forces are few and far between, and it's always nice to see another!

    Re: Adeptus Arbites Army

We found the bolter armed arbites to be extremely over powered, but the shotgun units werent strong at all to make up for it.

The shield and power maul combination was always a point of contention, but i think on the whole it balanced out ok.

Trust me, the most over powered unit by far were the convicts...

Ill see if i can get some photos put together over the next week or so and ill put up a blog and link you too it.

Keep up the good work, and I might see if i can pull together some bits and send you over a parcel of goodies from what I have left from my build a few years ago

    regards

    Re: Adeptus Arbites Army

A smallish update: three meltaguns for my Execution Team - hands from Enforcer weapon sprues cut from flamers glued onto meltaguns from the Catachan command boxes I used to make my Penal squad. I've actually finished one more Arbites Team as well, but I'll take some pics of them when they're based.

I know they're a little skewed, and that the work lacks precision, but hopefully it'll look okay when painted.

    Re: Adeptus Arbites Army

    Some further development!
First off my spanking new Combat Team: five boltguns and three plasma guns to put the fear of the law in the enemy.

Pretty happy with those guys, and I'm hoping that this next unit will turn out at least equally good - The penal legion squad! There is still some minor work to do before base coating, but I can't resist the urge to show them as is:

Most of the bits are of course from the Catachan command box, but I went through my far too many other boxes to find some other stuff as well. Spot the bits if you can!

    Your Arbites look cool Folketsfiende!

The original colours are a breath of fresh air. I cant wait to see this force progress.

Just like your Mordheim warbands you have served up another inspired and original idea.

    Keep up the good stuff!

Thanks! I like to use different colour schemes. I've been suckered into GW conformity twice (my Lizardmen army and my Sisters of Battle), but it won't happen again. Got a new 40K army lined up after this one, and it won't be standard either...

What happened with your Averland project, btw? Your conversions were great!

I hadn't realised (or forgotten if you told me) that you'd started thread for these, so I'd better subscribe.

These pictures are looking good, and makes me think that you really should invest in a better kitchen lamp so people can see your models when playing.

What?! If people see my models when we play, what chance will I then have of winning? Besides, the summer is approaching, so you will get a good look at them next time!

Very much so! It's the Cynoraptor handler. I quite like the i-Kore models. I'll be using some Junker models on lizards (Sand Runners they're called if I recall correctly) in the army as Fast attack Cavalry.

Shaping up quite nicely. That red is still very striking, I like it a lot (though my own Arbites will still be the traditional black). I wouldn't want to **** one of those guys off...

Some work done on the penal squad! Pants, skin and grey vests are finished.
