    Diablo 3 - Incoming

Just got my email to confirming despatch of my CE! My new monitor should arrive tomorrow. Odd that the money saved by me hating Newcrons has purchased a new monitor!

After the OBW I'm going to play the Witch Doctor First off. He looks very different from the others and I love the pets he can summon.

I want to play through normal solo to read the story, search for easter eggs, etc.

Anybody up for some multiplayer, though....(I fear another 'Space Marine Clan' affair)

What classes are others looking forward to?

I probably won't get it till late June, got a wedding and honeymoon to save for, but after that.....I don't know much about it so I can be kinda suprised
    It's not pronounced "ass-tarts" silly

I've got my original amazon pre-order from early 2010 (£19.99!!!), I was going to go for the CE but as I got myself a bargain with my early preorder I'll just stick with that.

Hopefully my current PC will run it OK, if not sales of all my GW hobby stuff (as I've quit the hobby - hence my lack of posts anywhere else other than this area of the forums) will pay for a nice new Dell gaming PC for a treat for getting out of the GW hobby after all these years - and I've got finecrap (in particular the poor quality and expensive price for such a cheap ****** material) to thank!

Will give you a shout when it turns up

Yes...it is quite disturbing to see how the 'spare cash' piles up isn't it?

I was thinking witch doctor myself, but I usually end up with mellee class characters regardless of what game I'm playing.

Skipping it. My beta experience was pretty much strictly inferior to half a dozen games just like it.
There just isn't anything to hold my interest in the game.

Instead I just picked up Warlock: Master of the Arcane. Fun little TBS in the style of Master of Magic. A bit unpolished, but fun all the same.
Plus I've got a Secret World beta key to look into. I'm not all that keyed up about it (unlike Guild Wars 2, which I'm very excited about and had a grand old time with their first public beta weekend event), but it looks far more interesting than diablo yet again.

    CE = collectors edition.

I'm curious what you mean by 'warrior class,' as there isn't any such animal in the game. If you want to do melee (which in all honesty I found to be vastly inferior to the ranged classes) you've a choice of monk or barbarian.

    Re: Diablo 3 - Incoming

    I think he means Barbarian.

I didn't play much Diablo the first two times around so I haven't gotten sick of a bit of mindless violence. I played Torchlight a bit and really enjoyed it...I think Torchlight 2 is the game I'm most looking forward to at the moment.

I think I can see why some hardcore Diablists have become thoroughly jaded with it, however. I played a lot of StarCraft, was excited about SC2 but it didn't hold my attention very long at all. It seemed very old fashioned compared to Supreme Commander....a game that had improved since its previous incarnation.

What I got to play of GW2 in the open beta weekend I enjoyed but after WoW I'm still a little leery of MMOs and their 'need' to play almost every day.

But GW2 seems such a fresh take on so many things that I want to give it a try.

    Edit: Yay! Game has arrived!

I guess I'll get it at some point but I can't bring myself to buy any game at "full price". I don't need to have stuff at release either.

I'm sure it will be a good game though. It's weird with Blizzard games. I'm never enthusiastic about them because I'm not a huge fan but I know that they always turn out very well because these people just know how to get a job done. It may take some time but they always put out good product in the end.

Sigur, if you don't want to pay full price for a game then I strongly recommend you pre-order Torchlight 2. Currently £14.99 in whatever your local currency is.

I just got into the beta and the game is beautiful. It was a real moment of wonder when I first started running around. I didn't get that with D3...but that could be due to the starting area being a bit dull an my aging 8800 GPU.

The pet system is great. I found a spell scroll and taught my pet Haste, for example.

    I’ll pick it up...

    Eventually...

The brief open beta did nothing for me. Well... Okay... The references to Diablo I were actually quite good, but the game play is same-old-same-old. Only more boring and with less loot...

Instead, I’ll be using my time and money on Max Payne 3.

Does the game still require you to be connected to the Internet at all times even while playing alone?

Yes, I'm afraid D3 still requires that.

That is just the first part, taken directly from the beta.
And if anyone actually needs help with that, they are doing it wrong.

My copy of the CE should be arriving any minute now. I've taken the day off just to play this game! Can't wait to finally get my hands on it after so many years of playing Diablo II.
I'm going to start with the Wizard, the awesome skillset just demands that I do.

You've taken your day off? It'll be epic if the post is late and you receive it only tomorrow, don't you think?

That's the beauty of being a university student: no one cares if I don't show up :P. Besides: it's already here (currently installing) and it's only 10:51. That means about 13 hours left to play Diablo this day!
