Colour me unimpressed so far. This always online thing is crap, I live out in the middle of nowhere and my speed is cackcan't see me sticking with this for long. I actually prefer torchlight so far!

Torchlight is a far suprior title.
Decent fun so far, got my Demon Hunter to level 7 before I stopped to watch hockey/UFC and the servers went down for an upgrade. Seems like a decent purchase so far, though I can't wait to unlock more skill slots so I can do more than 2-3 abilities at a time

I managed to sneak a collectors edition copy from Target.com on the 14th, just waiting for it to arrive. It was a last minute impulse decision.
Still, I'm not sure if I'll have a ton of time for it, I'm in training right now for a 5k obstacle course in July and we've had our first two weeks of sunshine to start our summer early here. Considering we usually only get about 8 weeks of decent weather all year I'm hesitant to squander it inside in front of a computer. Hearing everyone's troubles with even getting a game running right now I may wait a couple weeks until things slow down or Blizzard gets a couple more servers up.
To be fair, I didn't have any trouble logging in and getting started. As soon as the game installed (around 5pm Pacific) I was able to start the game no problem and get going. Later in the evening they took it down for a server upgrade. I know my experience may not be representative, but the bigger MMO companies are reasonably fast at adapting to the flood of new players into a game.
Anyway, there's no subscription fees for this game so if you want to give it a try and some casual play in between training there's no risk. I totally understand why you'd be hesitant though, I expect my other hobbies are gonna suffer a bit until I finish the game![]()
Reached Act II with my Witch Doctor (lvl 17) half a hour ago.
I guess I'll need to get into the different skills and what they do a bit more.
The skill system is pretty straight forward and there does not seem a lot of room for building special builds,
that's something I don't like compared to D2 and it's expansions.
A friend and I have reached Act II. I am a Barbarian and he is a Witch Doctor, so far, I am loving it. Its simplicity for me works, its what makes it a great game IMO. Its also very very pretty.

For anti-piracy and to prevent item hacks and such.
I just don't get that they didn't implement an offline mode where you couldn't get achievements or couldn't use your character online.
Bretonnians ARE NOT a pure Knightly army.
Half the army choices consist out of Peasants and Damsels.

Looks like it should be here this afternoon. I'll crack it open but I've got a two hour session at the gym tonight and tomorrow so I probably won't have a chance to give it a run through until Friday. Wish I could play while I'm on the treadmill, it would make that hour go by a lot quicker.
And yeah, my Warhammer and 40k are suffering already. If Diablo grabs my attention it's going to be even longer before I get those Vamps and Dark Eldar finished.
Lvl 25 and just started Act III. This game makes me feel as if I am part of a very epic story. I don't want to spoil it, but the number of creatures on the screen at any 1 time is just awesome, I sometimes can't really see wtf is going on there is just simply too much blood and gore going on.
CE unboxed. Looking at it sitting on the counter as I head to the gym. I think I know how Rhodes felt in Iron Man when he left the MK II suit behind.
It may have been patched to be that way (I don't know for sure), but on release that wasn't the case. The campaign and single player mode for SC2 were playable offline. It didn't log the 'achievements' (for whatever that is worth) and you were essentially playing as a 'guest' account on your own system, but the game did play locally without a connection.
Originally I didn't have a problem with the idea that d3 would be online only. But I figured it was some sort of handshake authentication protocol, not that you just couldn't play because remote servers were down or even more bizarrely you couldn't play a single player game if the servers are full. Thats just the height of over-regulating consumers, and pretty much solely to their detriment.
You can't even do LAN parties with d3, which is also fairly ridiculous.
Nice shark, pretty shark.
Lion: Hey Russ, you'll never guess what!
Russ: Yeah, I know! Magnus is a traitor! To think that he could accuse our beloved brother Horus of turning against us. Impossible! But don't worry. I have taken care of it, Horus asked me to destroyed Prospero and I have. Magnus shouldn't be bothering us again.
Lion:... actually, I was going to say that Magnus was right. Horus has turned to Chaos, 7 other Legions have joined him and he has destroyed 3 Loyal Legions already!
Russ:
Well thats Normal beaten. Awesome story/game, my only complaint the auction house (D-Bay - Copy writed by me) makes the game too easy. I just saved up, got some epic weaponry and went to town. My barbarian was Critting at 1000+ a hit meaning very few things took more than 2 hits. I was often finding 15 plus killed in one hit and chain deaths into the 40's.
Last night went from "I'll just play 1 round of ME3 multiplayer on silver and then fire up D3" to "I guess I need to back up and reformat..."
On the bright side, it gave me an excuse to finally upgrade my Bootcamp partition from XP Pro to Win7 ProSeveral dozen gigs of games still downloading as I left for work this morning
