Thread: Alt models

    Alt models

I wasn't sure where to put this, and this sounded like the best spot for it, but I had a couple question about a model (http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/va...priestess.html). The description says it 30mm and my questions are:

Does 30mm work legally for Fantasy?
Would it look out of place for size?
would It be to big to rank up?

Haven't seen the mini, but sure: if your venue allows it and you want to use it, then use it.

Fantasy is supposed to be "heroic" 28mm, with "heroic" meaning larger and exagerrated elements such as weapons and armors.

A model done in normal (non-heroic) scale at 30mm should be perfect, and at worst you will get an elven character slightly taller than usual, but this happens and should not prevent the model from looking good onthe battle field.

I have the model, it's actually slightly smaller/thinner than GW minis. It doesn't look out of place with the Witch Elves, but the weapon does cause problems when trying to rank it up.

**Just realized I have a picture with my Cauldron (all be it just undercoated)**

    Re: Alt models

Current GW models are more 32mm scale than 28mm anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Trying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.

32mm models are noticeably larger than GW models.

Yes they are - the newer 7th ed empire state troops are 32mm from foot to top of head (roughly 30mm to the eye) - and he is hunched, the older 6th ed state troops are 30mm from foot to top of head (roughly 28mm to the eye) - standing straight up.

Which is why I said they are closer to 32mm and not that they are 32mm scale

No you ddn't... "Current GW models are more 32mm scale than 28mm anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem. " is what you said...

And you are wrong, will not bother with picking up a model to measure, but in any case "scale" is something else than taking a ruler to a random model...

Utter rubbish. I have measured the models, yet you can't be bothered to. Great work there. As scale is based on measurement taking a ruler to a model is perfectly reasonable, maybe you should try it instead of talking about things you clarly have no idea about.
