Help converting Crusader to Chaos Land Raider

Hey Guys,
I have an unbuilt Space Marine Land Raider Crusader. Unfortunatly I have long since chosen to go a darker path (chaos derp) and am stuck with my Crusader. I can sell it however I would rather use it build a Chaos Land Raider. Does anyone know how I can do this? I need the Lascannons and Heavy Bolter emplacement. My friend is telling me to buy two Razorback boxes and use the lascannons from those while making the razorbacks chaos rhinos.

Seems expensive - unless you actually need 2 rhinos. Why not just get the Lascannon and Heavy Bolter sprue, the one the Crusader box doesn't include?

It shouldn't be too difficult to bodge the Razorback Lacannons onto the Predator versions in the Crusader sponsons.

Unless you are planning on playing in a tournament and as long as the people you play against dont mind, why dont you consider just running it as a chaos land raider crusader?

That does raise an interesting point - some of the Crusader weapons (I'm thinking the mega flamers in particular) could be 'mutated' into giant daemonic weapons which count-as twin-linked lascannon? Depends on your conversion skills and what's in your bits box...

Various bitz sites should have Land Raider sponson sprues available, and the turret can be made from the Razorback sprue (just ask around at your FLGS and see if anyone has any spares, or else buy them from the bitz sites as well). I've done the same thing with a really cheap second-hand LRC and have since converted it to a stock Chaos LR, with weapons magnetised so I can swap them around in case a future codex includes new weapon options

Yeah thats what I do,I'd not played my chaos army for a few years until the space wolf codex came out.

Considering how far gone your traitor scum are, you could model the weapons in a more daemonic fashion, like they are not mounted, but rather held by the Land Raider. You could also have tentacle mounted instead of sponson mounted weapons too .

It has been rumored that Chaos is getting another variant of the Land Raider chassis finally. So I don't know if I would scrap that Hurricane sponson just yet.

Personally I'd build the shell and magnetise all the weapons, that way if there is a new variant you could easily swap weapons. Also good when you lose a weapon during a game you can just take it off. And if you just want the sponsons try spikey bitz or hoard o bits for parts, óne of them probably will have the bits you need.

I think that's a testament to how crap chaos players think there current codex is. I'm sure they'd much prefer to have their own codex to use or like me just drop it till the new codex comes out.

For the heavy bolters, if you cut off the rotary barrels from the assault cannons and add on a short snub barrel instead I doubt anyone would even notice they weren't heavy bolters to start with.

Then you only need the lascannons, you don't when need to get the shields if you don't want. The stripped down look without would be good for chaos.

That makes it tougher to field as "counts as" grey knights though.

How old is the Crusader? Isn't the newest kit a Crusader/Redeemer? If that is what you have...

Option 1) Wait for the new book and see if the rumored new Chaos Land Raider variant could be built with conversions of the weapons that come in that kit.

Option 2) Do what I did with my loyalist Land Raider (admittedly, it was a Godhammer pattern): chop off the ends of the loyalist weapons and stick on the Chaos "eagles" and "demon dog" heads from the Chaos vehicle upgrade sprue (which you will get from any Chaos vehicle you purchase, and you won't use them on Rhinos or Defilers or Vindicators...). Nobody can tell that mine started life as a surplus loyalist vehicle.

If you do it right, you can make the Redeemer cannons look like TL Lascannons with ease using the "eagle" heads. Making the assault cannon look like a heavy bolter using just the "demon dog" heads would be tougher...you may be better off simply saying the assault cannon counts as heavy bolter here, and hope your opponent doesn't have a problem with it. He shouldn't - it's an obvious counts-as (and the only choice in the current codex). If you Chaos-ify the rest of the vehicle, nobody should give you any grief.

Use a sharp knife and cut off the Imperial iconography from the doors, replacing it with Chaos iconography (also found on the upgrade sprues for Chaos vehicles, and you get a lot of it). If you don't have enough of that, use GS press casting or order some from Warstore/eBay. If you're good with the press casting, you can even combine various iconography bits to make your own. Use some of your extra spikes and chains from the upgrade sprue (again, you should have plenty of extra - I know I do).

ill swap you, iv got 4 land raiders 1 redeemer 1 crusader and 2 "godhammer", one of my "godhammers" is fully constructed but not painted at all, i have never used both "godhammers" at the same time but would like another crusader.
