40K Army: Imperial Guard

What do you guys think of this 2000 point guard list, I'm just looking to have fun with it:

You can drop the doctrines from the veterans and the multi meltas off the leman russes and save 270 points, (30x6 + 30x3) without reducing the 'fun' in the list. The doctrines are over priced for the short life expectancy of 10 guardsmen, as are the multi meltas which don't really compliment the 'stand back and shoot' role of the russes. The primaris psyker is kind of out of place in the list too.

With the points saved you could buy a second CCS perhaps, something in elites like marbo or battle psykers, possibly some other heavy or fast choice depending on if the valkyries and leman russes are squadroned, which I would recommend against.

Thanks for the reply, I havent played 40k that long so I was just toying around with different ideas. As for the squadrons is that a bad idea for leman russes?

Yes, squadrons are that bad idea unless you have to. I have a rule of thumb. Does the squadron cost over 150 pts? If so, look at it carefully.

The problem is you have to fire the whole squadron at one target, and you have a hugely increased vulnerability to damage results- for shooty stuff, immobilised isn't too bad, as you can still shoot. Squadron turn those into destroyed...

Pretty solid list if you remove the doc's and then could add another squad in are you allowed to field more than one HQ?
