I think people are forgetting the reason the DoW deployment exists in the first place...
After having this one over quite a few times, I doubt we will get further.
Though, after being told an entire platoon can be deployed in place of one unit, I would ask what other relevant rules do we have?
= dedicated transport rules.
If a platoon really does purchase chimeras, why cant I deploy my heavy/special weapons units in them????
Ps, the al rehem argument in this subject is a farce.

OneringBook to rule them all, oneringplace to find them, OneringCodex to bring them all, and in theDarknessfuture bind them. Time for the unified Marine Codex.
I've been there a while. Just waiting for a decent argument that Chimeras can all be deployed. Still waiting :P
Options that are purchased as part of buying things that are purchased as part of buying a platoon is a pretty simple and compelling argument.
On the other side, I've yet to hear a counter-argument that gets around the fact that non-dedicated transports are specifically called out as not being subject to the rule. Why would they point out that non-dedicated transports don't count, unless dedicated transports do count?

Of course there is a counter argument. Normally units deploy/arrive in their transports, so if non dedicated transports weren't specifically excluded, you could deploy a squadron of valkyries/vendettas with platoon unit inside in DoW. Dedicated transports are not excluded but don't get additional permissions either, so a chimera can deploy in DoW along with a platoon using normal restrictions.
No, you couldn't. The reason being, Valkyries and vendettas, the only non dedicated transports in the codex, are neither troops nor HQ. The codex and FAQ alters the DoW rules for platoons. The Valks are not part of the platoon, not bought for a specific unit within the platoon, (unlike the chimeras at the heart of this issue), and so they're definitely not covered.

This has gone miles off topic.
Thank you for the input. I am now clear on this (as everyone probably is), so for the good of all I will close the thread
