    Re: Next forgeworld book.

As I have no experience with these FW releases, I'm wondering how the rules written for certain armies relate to the official GW armybooks. Are they closely linked to the current armybooks or do they offer very unique units that in no way resemble the style of the original?

If Dwarfs are in there I would think it'd make no particular sense to release a FW book containing rules for Dwarfs that may only be valid for a year or so... so would it be safe to assume that their original armybook by GW is coming along quickly and the FW book will work in conjuntion with the new book?
Very funny Scotty... Now beam down my clothes.

Well if you take Tamurkhan it includes new army lists like Chaos Dwarfs and the combined WoC and Daemons (also Beastmen? I forget) lists which use units from the army books but you don't need the army book to play them, I think. In contrast the Empire section just includes rules for some new characters and units, so you need the Empire book to make an Empire list. So it could be the same for the next book, OnG may get some kind of special horde list while Empire and Dwarfs just get some new units and characters.

FW do update the rules for their lists, usually fairly promptly though I think perhaps one of their older IA lits needs an update but I forget.

On a slightly related note, and apologies if this has been stated anywhere else, at their most recent event (WFB doubles last weekend) they asked players whether or not they would want FW lists to be permitted.

Now this is obviously at an early stage, but indicated they are at least considering letting FW lists be used in at least some tournaments.

In many cases with Forgeworld (and I'm guessing warhammer forge will be as well), you are able to create lists that, while similar to the actual army book, have some variation from it, to fit better in with the books background.

In Vraks you could build a 'Lost and the Damned' style traitor guard list. And they had lists for Death korps of Krieg, as well as special space marine lists, such as Forgeworld's own 'Red Scorpions'. It's a little bit of difference to an already established list that helps you re-fight the battles from the book. I think the hesitation to allow people to use them in regular or 'tournament' games though, comes from the earlier Imperial Armor (Armour, case you ain't Merr'ican) books where these lists contained more super heavy vehicles/titans/ and generally things that were created for more fluff minded players (people who choose theme in their armies over just bare bones fightyness (see the sentinel Power lifter, Atlus recovery tank, or tau sensor tower)). Tamurkhan's lists weren't quite so off the beaten path though (land ships excluded), and I think most of the larger stuff like big big (mammoth sized) monsters were requisitioned to more of the 'storm of magic' side of things.

I think in this upcoming book you could see hints of stuff like that though. Airships, Colossal squigs, Ancestor cannons, and perhaps supply trains for both sides, including dwarven beer carts, who knows!!???

I don't collect Dwarf's but I'm a fan of FW releases, BL books and fluff. When I saw that dwarfs will be in the FW book I hope Malakai Makaisson, gets shoe horned into this book I really like him from the Gotrek & Felix novels, I only suggest this cause some one mentioned a dwarf airship

Of those I spoke to, we all said yes they should be allowed. But no official response as yet that I'm aware of.

I have a warriors of chaos and Empire Army.

Tamaurkan expanded my collection with a decent sized chaos dwarf list.

I've just ordered Monstrous Arcanum and I will definitely be getting The battle for black fire pass as well.

Just love the forge world books the fluff is just so well written and has a more grown up feel to it compared to the newer simplistic 8th ed books.

Mentioned in what context, are we talking of new models? (awesome). Or just background rules.

Have to say i am a massive fan of the chaos dwarves from forgeworls and can't wait to see what they do for normal dwarves, down here in aus the stand alone chaos dwarves list is allowed which is great because we can buy the forgeworld army cheaper than buying a std gw army from australian rrp prices.... Looking forward to what new goodies should be coming our way.

What sprt of characters can we expect? Ive done some digging around and found the empire book it is in.

Seems that the Emperor (on foot, horse and deathclaw, kurt helborg, marius leitdorf (on foot, rather than daisy), against an unknown warboss, multiple giamts, cannons running short on shot, reiksguard cavalry charge, and boar riders.

There is so far very little that I know of, aside from leitdorf on foot that is particularly stilted towards anything more than a large army although it was written before the new edition and the add ons with it.

What role did the dwarves play?

Nothing again. The last few weeks have been (IIRC) 40K, 40K-themed painting book, nothing, 40K, 40K, Giant Squig, 40K, nothing, 40K.

I know FW/WF aren't obliged to alternate releases, there's no rule saying they have to... but it'd be nice to get some love for Fantasy, that's all I'm saying.

Yeah, but most of the time they did alternate releases and I got used to it.

Keep in mind 40K 6e is about to drop. They may be concentrating on 40K in support of that...

I just want FW to release stuff for one of my armies!

My regular WE opponent has already agreed that IF the new book includes rules for Forest Goblins then i may use them in games, so all i need now is that to happen....

    Re: Next forgeworld book.

We shall find out tomorrow, I think. It seems theres a biweekly release schedule for the fw/whf studio. Considering the preyton is done, among others I personally would like to see that drop tomorrow - Id get it as well if it was like the warpfire dragons price. As for books, we have had 2 whf books, 5 army books, an expansion, a limited production semi expansion, all in the space of around 2 years, compared to a similar period of 3 codexes and the worst imperial armour Ive had the displeasure to read, let alone purchase. As said 6e is here soon and ia12 is around the corner, so get those out the way, and I should like to see a way towards completing the ma1 models, blackfire pass, and hints towards ma2, (leaving space for a third the following year, going by the kind of monsters we have (3 elementals).
