This makes more sense.
I don't play any of these factions, so I probably won't get the book even though I've got Tamurkhan and MA already. I am interested in seeing what Dwarf and Empire models come with it, 'cause that might give us an inkling as to what could come for Clan Skryre (if they ever get any WF love).
As you may recall in Tamurkhan, they specifically call out in the description of the chaos dwarfs that they are always at odds with Clan Skryre, and I could see if there is another book with more Chaos dwarfs in it down the road, we might just see clan skryre's Warhammer forge premier. Perhaps they'll do a book on the 'Nightmare at Drakenmoor' which is described in a side blurb in Tamurkhan. Basically, a super warmachine shoot out between the skaven and Chaos Dwarfs, for those who haven't heard of it. Even if all they released for Chaos dwarfs was some standard troops I'd be happy. (a warhammer forge lamassu would make me happier though!)
I will admit, that I am always happy when Warhammer forge/ Forgeworld work with Chaos, I always love what they come up with. But this book will be really 'Back to Basics' Warhammer. It don't get much more simple than orcs/Dwarfs/empire in my mind. And I'm excited to see what they come up with.
Then they should do a bit stranger match up, Tomb kings vs Wood Elves? heh...![]()
I shall have to have another look at Tamurkhan. That does sound interesting, and could make for good inspiration. Not to mention that Ikit Claw supposedly spent time working alongside the Chaos Dwarfs. I'm more Clan Moulder, but anything Skaven is very much welcome for me.
Given what the Chaos Dwarf war machines do though, I suspect only Skaven players will welcome such additions.
I'm sure Tomb Kings wouldn't be too hard to give some WF love to, but just what Wood Elves could get is beyond me. Fairly sure that even in the Warhammer World that trees can only get so big. Then they should do a bit stranger match up, Tomb kings vs Wood Elves? heh...![]()

So this is the same battle as in the short story in the back of the 6th edition Empire army book?

Nice! If Warhammer Forge expands the Savage Orcs with their brand/style of awesome models, then I'll have to rebuild a small 4,000pt Savage Orc Army, as i'm sure they worship Khorne!!!![]()

After seeing their work so far on the Warhammer Forge side, coupled with spending far too much time drooling over a copy of Tamurkhan i am very much looking forward to seeing what they'll do for the Dwarfs. I won't be able to afford any of it, but it's nice to see luverly models.

Read about my terrible luck gaming and iffy painting on my blog
If the book is anything like Tamurkhan the book is likely to chart the origins and path of an invasion. This allows them to explore multiple backgrounds and as they said in relation to Tamurkhan, explore those areas of the Warhammer world that are seldom visited.
I reckon the basis for sea trolls or similar may be in the progression of the invasion. The orcs won't simply start at the other end of black fire pass.
My bet is that it is a waaagh that starts deep in the badlands, maybe attacks Karack Varn or some outlying fortress (hence the Dwarves) and then progresses through the border princes and to black fire pass. In that context the "sea" trolls might be indigenous to the Black Gulf near Karack Varn or perhaps some salt marsh or river estuary nearby.
Dwarves: get ready for shaved mustaches, bald heads with little hell-boy horns, and static one-pose infantry regiments. Oh wait, that's Chaos Dwarves...![]()
Outstanding, love the Warhammer Forge WFB books so far. Beautiful in appearance and well written. Enjoying the fact that they seem to be covering aspects of the fluff not often examined. Tamurkhan highlighted perhaps the least commonly discussed of the Chaos Gods while also including the Mountains of Mourn and the Darklands/Chaos Dwarfs. Empire got a heavy dose in Tamurkhan so would prefer to have this new book concentrate on the OnG/Dwarfs. Can't wait to get my hands on it though.
Awake O Dead, for there can be no rest for ye beneath the earth. Let the splintered bones burrow from the grave pall. Let cold fingers grip time-worn blades, and unseeing eyes survey the fields of slaughter. For your time has come once more. And the dead shall walk.
While I agree that Tamurkhan was good, I think it's quite unfair to consider Nurgle as the "least commonly discussed of the Chaos Gods". Nurgle gets a lot of love both in background AND minis (and yes, I know Plaguebearers are the only core daemons that haven't had a plastic kit done for now, I'm talking about FW). While all Chaos Gods have had their background considerably dumbed down, Nurgle daemons appear in every other BL novel with daemons in it and had perhaps the biggest number of FW minis even before Tamurkhan, with Khorne as a close contender. Slaanesh, however, has been kind of forgotten in that department, as has Tzeentch. In the DoC army book and codex, all gods get at least 2 SCs (Khorne has 3), while Slaanesh has only one and is the only god without a named Greater Daemon, even though N'kari is mentioned quite often and described as quite a badass. Don't get me wrong, I liked the idea behind Tamurkhan, but when I saw it was only going to cover Nurgle, I thought "what, again?".
I guess the dumbing down meant Slaanesh is only sex (which in this moment apparently means boobs), and that makes Slaaneshi daemons/warriors harder (no pun intended!) to portray when catering to a wide audience of preteens. Same can be said about Tzeentch, of course, although even he had more SCs.
I collect both Dwarfs and Night Goblins, so definitely a lot here for me. Not keen on the idea of a dwarf airship (I'm a traditionalist) but certainly any additions to this army, as well as NG gribblies is exciting! Am very keen to see what's in store for Forest Goblins! Maybe an independent army list, with infantry and perhaps a few more items?

Sadly, Forge World is terribly spendy, and also takes forever to get to the US. But, if there's something worth taking, I may pick it up. I'd love to paint an air ship.

?? Do you mean for U.S. distributors to carry? I have ordered direct from them multiple times (at a guess, 7 or 8) and have always had quick service - as fast or faster than any of the other U.K. figure and terrain manufacturers I order from: c. 10 days.
