1500PT necron tourny list HELP PLEASE!

40K Army: Necrons

So im going to a big tournament in a couple of months and ive never had a necron army before so its all new. The idea is to have an infantry based army that is competitive; the problem is if i dont like the model/background/rules i wont take that model, even if it means my list will be slightly less competitive, so i guess what im looking for is suggestions of how i may better my list without starting it from scratch. so without further ado, here is my list:

HQ: overlord - 90
warscythe - 10
sempiternal weave - 15
phase shifter - 45

total - 160 pts

royal court w/ 2 necron lords - 70
2 resurrection orbs - 60

total - 130 pts

TROOPS: 20 warriors - 260 pts

20 warriors - 260 pts

10 immortals w/tesla carbines - 170 pts

ELITES: triarch stalker - 150 pts

triarch stalker - 150 pts

FAST: 3 scarab swarms - 45 pts

3 wraiths w/whip coils - 135 pts

HEAVY: 2 canoptek spyders - 100 pts

TOTAL: 1500 PTS

the plan is to march everything forward slowly while laying down fire with the immortals and warriors, hugging cover. the stalkers will draw attention and hopefully take out some tanks or at the very least shoot a couple squads for the army wide twin linked bonus. the scarabs are a small unit because i needed the points and besides, the spyders will be making the unit bigger. the wraiths are a big distraction and will hopefully run up the flank hugging cover and taking out some choice targets. the overlord will be with the immortals and he will bear the brunt of most heavy combat attacks and the two lords shall be with the warriors to make the most out of the big unit by keeping them going at strength.

so i think ive got my bases covered but any ideas would be great =D

You should give the overlord phaeron and put hm in the warriors so that they are relentless

i was thinking of dropping a lord with res orb, making my overlord a phaeron and taking a crpytek of destruction with gaze of flame and eldritch lance. this still works out at exactly the same points but with one less res orb but a bit more anti tank and combat survivability plus a unit of now relentless 20 warriors

Well, the main problem I see with this list is that it's 1560 points?

Firstly, I'd drop the warrior's to 18 man unit's, this will a) save you 52 points, and b) become 3 full boxes of models, saving you £20.50 on the last 4 guys

You're going to have to lose either the warscythe or sempiternal weave off the overlord to bring it back under 1500, but as to which, I think that's a personal choice depending on how you expect to use him.

If you could have found 50 points to give the spyder's Particle beamer's, that would have been nice, but the miscalculation gobbled up those points. It's expensive, but it then makes them a 24" threat on top of movement and their ability to munch pretty much anything in HTH as Str 6 MC's.

There's no point running wraiths through cover in all honesty, they have a 3+/3++ save anyway, try to make them look as big and scary as possible, or use them to screen smaller unit's.

If you can keep the Canoptek unit's in the opponents face, they'll be bearing the brunt of his attacks as they are the real threat's, but are capable of taking it. Then mop up his objectives with the warriors.

ah ive seen the miscalculation in my maths. i shall definately go for an 18 man unit and a 17 man unit to rectify the points variance and also save money. great ideas!

I don't think the Phase Shifter will help much really. Your squads are pretty weak in assaults so you won't want to assault them and if the opponent wants to win the combat he'd probably put as few hits on the Overlord as he can whilst concentrating on the easier to kill Warriors.

That's a good savings of 45pts better spent elsewhere!

Anyway, put up a new list for us to review.

P.S. what tournament are you going to? I'm taking my Necrons to the ToS in July which will be a scary thing since I haven't ever used them competetively!

Humm here's my thoughts on the list as I run a footcron army as well:

- Drop your 2 regular lords for a second overlord and make sure to give both phaeron. This way you will have 2 large blobs of warriors with relentless. If you need extra points 2 units of 15 will also work.

- I'd split your immortals into 2 groups of 5. I find that the unit of 10 gets swept too easily but 5 allows you to camp objectives and/or advance as support units with your warrior blobs and increases target saturation.

- I personally prefer my heavy slots going towards annihilation barges bit if you want to keep them I'd break up your spyders and give each a gloom prism to walk along next to your warriors blobs to help save them versus nasty psychic powers like JoWW.

- I'd drop one triarch stalker to free up some points for some crypteks. I'd give each warrior blob a destruction and storm cryptek (storm cryptek with a lightning field) to give them a take all commers role. If you break up the immortals you could also, or in the alternative, give each unit 2 destruct crypteks to make them mobile fire support. In either case this will give some more value to the TL-ing ability of the remaining stalker.
