A Time of Slaughter and Madness

    Greetings Brethren!

The time has come for your friend Shadow Steed to start a painting and battle log! I will in addition to posting my modelling and painting also post battle pictures from my rampages in the Warhammer World. As it is now I am struggling to get an army painted (Warriors of Chaos) so that I might once again play the game I love! I have been in the hobby for about 10 years now (12-22). I sold all my previous armies, which included, Bretonnia, High Elves and Dark Elves.

The theme of the army will be that of an 4th century marauding Gothic tribe. So lots of Marauders and Marauder Horsemen is to be expected. The other units will be painted in the colours of the different gods.

Here is an overview over my working station and some finished models. I will try to get pictures in better lightning of all my painted models tomorrow.

My goal for now is to get at least 1000 points painted so the fighting can begin.

    Painted:

    16 Khorne warriors

    10 Hounds from Hell

    5 Marauder Horsemen

    WIP:

8 Khorne Warriors, including the command group.

    5 Marauder Horsemen

Lord of Slaanesh mounted on his beloved steed.

    In line:

    5 Knights of Nurgle

20 Marauders. With mixed weapons taken from various sets, this in order to create a rag-tag barbaric look, and to allow me more choices when creating my army lists.

The marauder horsemen look great. I really like their shields.

Thank you my friend! I plan to paint all the shields (for my Marauders and Marauder Horsemen the same way) to create the feeling of a viking or barbarian host.

A unit of Hounds of Hell, nothing spectacular, I just went for the ordinary brown look on them =).

Unfortunately I can't seem to find a good light to take my photos in. But this will have to do for now.

Update time! Hrotghar The Mad, Chosen of Khorne, now stands ready to wreak havoc amongst the unfortunate nations of the Old World. I also completed 6 other Khornate Warriors, including the standard bearer and musician. I will hopefully photo them during daylight, I just took a photo of the champion because I was so happy with the outcome, even though the light isn't the best.

I really like that time period as well. I am looking forward to painting my 20 Marauders (all with different colours on the shields =).

Re: A Time of Slaughter and Madness

I went on a small shopping spree today, (Up until now I only had the Lord of Slaanesh as characters).

The, Exalted Hero is my very first Finecast model, he will be joining my Khorne Warrior unit. I also wanted to includ the Vampire Necromancer, I think it fits perfectly into the theme of my army (as an old Gothic shaman or the like), I also wanted the Chaos wizard due to the extreme coolness of the model. I really look forward to painting these characters!

I thought to paint these horses up first though, which isn't that hard, regarding they are my favorite miniatures (The Marauder Horsemen kit).

mdicala: Cheers! I am glad you like the shields, they are after all the defining detail of the army =), I also managed to get a better shot at the standard bearer and musician.

Btw, the bases are not completely dry when I shot the picture, hence the white under the grass =)

Me and my daemon friend decided to retrieve an ancient tome of knowledge from the golden cities of Lustria. Although we met fierce resistance it was in the end in vain.

I will try to get some good photos of my newly painted units as well! =)

Just finished 5 marauder horsemen, I still can't take a proper photo as you see.

The Sorcerer is a renegade high elf, lured into Chaos by the promises of Tzeentch!

And also, please come with comments and critique!

Re: A Time of Slaughter and Madness

In my humble opinion a better photo. Still leaving alot to wish for though. Anyway I am really happy how they all turned out.

Glorfindel The Traitor: Glorfindel was once a highly regarded High Elf Mage and the apprentice of Teclis himself. However one night, Tzeentch came to him in a dream and foretold the future, after that day Glorfindel became more withdrawn from the world until Teclis, who suspected him to be addled by the taint of Chaos decided to eliminate his former friend, however, Glorfindel managed to espace the ensuing battle, leaving for the Wastes of Chaos.

Malak, Chosen of Khorne. As my first Finecast model I am happy the way he turned out, I used the same colour scheme as on my warriors, except for a final highlight in the armour.

Mannfred der Weise. Awesome model, hard to make it ugly. =)

Nice work. I particularly like the shade of red on Malak and the bases look great.

Re: A Time of Slaughter and Madness

    Greetings brethren!

I have finally finished what has been so far my most daunting modelling/assembling experience in the hobby. The failcast Hellcannon. Now it better turn out well =). As you see I have made some alterations to the model. I have put Chaos shields on the flanks, and two poles from Bretonnia bitz, I also put two Chaos shields by the poles. I also put the rock in front of the cannon to make the impression of a defended area. I have yet to name it and I will try to paint it sometime next week. I have cleaned up the base rims from excess sand, furthermore I wont be bothering with the separation inside of the cannon as it will be shadowy anyway. The dwards are on separate bases.

I tried to get a better picture of my Gothic Marauder Horsemen. The musicians instrument is taken from the Daemonette set.

Comments, critique and compliments are always appreciated!
