I reworked my challenge list a bit to deal with the new stuff some of the guys in my league are fielding. which is fine since my force was still on the bottom rung of the challenge board anyway.


Currently the eldar corsair force from IA11 is in the lead so i challenged the nid player to try and gain some rank (The eldar player is to far above me to directly challenge and he wasn't there this weekend anyway).

Setup

I lost the roll so he made me go first, usually abad thing in DOW, but in my case it allowed my CC dreads to get close to him.
the dread tralon and brey'arth started on the 24" line.

He declined to deploy anything.


.Turn 1
I rolled on my entire force driving the achillies into the fortified ruin next to an objective on my table edge. teh venerable dread came in to support him.then placing the terminus and tech marine on my right flank behind some trees.

The dread talon and breyarth advanced and then dropped smoke,

.His turn 1
Everything walks on except the doom and the trygon. the warirors and hive guard go for cover while his tyranos line up for shots on the dreads.
as expected i am close enough to him that night fight doesnt matter. he goes after my ironclads and the smoke saves my day. of all the shots that hit me i only suffer glancing stunned/shaken results

.My turn 2
I manage to get into CC with the ironclad on my far left flank. after getitng my paint scratched by the rending claw prime in the squad i kill him. the dread center has nowher to go so he feints left to open up a fire corridor for the terminus. the last ironclad goes right into the trees. breyarth is stuck out in the empty right corner and runs forward. i manage to do 3 wounds the one tyrano fex whie fireing through cover.

.His turn 2
His reserves do not arrive.
he literally has to use all his firepower to drop ther dread in the open and an attempt to get the one in the trees.

The dread in the open blows up but the one in the trees is fine.

.My turn 3
I run my remaining ironclad in the trees into his second warrior unit. again the prime scratches my paint then dies. breyarth runs forward. i begin the slow slog of killin his other warrior unit( i was only hitting 1 attack per CC phase).
combined firepower drops a tyranofex

.His turn 3
Both his reserves drop. the doom kills the tech marine and his servitor while his trygon adds fire the the backside of breyarth after all his other shots fail to hurt him....he gets a single immobilised result.....breyarth is frustrated. i manage to kill off his warrior squad to my right.

.My turn 4
I continue to mop up the warriors and manage to get my second ironclad to sweep into bith his hiveguard units. at T6 it takes me a while to wear them all down.
I kill his pod and do a few wounds to his second tyranofex

.His turn 4
His trygon abbandons bretarth and runs for my terminus, the doom moves towards my held objective. he tryies and faild to open up my terminus with his tyranofex.

.My turn 5
The ironclads are still on mop up duty. concentrated fire from my venerable dread, achillies and terminus drop the second tyranofex.

.His turn 5
He runs his trygon up and assaults the terminus scoring 1 pentrating hit that kills it. sadly chronus is lodged in the wreckage.

Dice is rolled and game continues.

.My turn 6
I clear out the last of his side of the table and use my achillies on the trygon. i score some wounds. the venerable dread tryies but fails to kill the doom.

.His turn 6
He goes for my achillies but fails to penetrate it with the trygon. his doom moves closer.

Dice is rolled and again the game continues.

.Turn 7
My ironclads are running from across the table but they will not make it in time. i finish off the trygon with my achillies and venerable dread

.His turn 7
He has a single model left...the doom.

He does the only thing he can do-move and run him in close enough to contest my held ojective turning the game into a tie on the final round.

It was an epic battle even if the tide had turned against him in the end. unfortunately i move nowhere on the challenge board with a tie outcome even in a game this heavy in my favor.

Yep, but i don't have the bits so we just did "counts as" if need be my buddy(who's nids i was fighting) actually has a terminus with him as well.
