Skink Chief and Terradon Riders unit

Under the "Character Mount" rule for Terradon Riders it states that if a Skink Chief takes a Terradon for a mount, he may join a unit of Terradon Riders. The minimum unit size for Terradon Riders is 3+. Would the Skink Chief count as being part of those three or do i need to take 3 Terradon Riders in addition to the Skink Chief on a Terradon?

Yes, the unit has to be 3+ before the Skink Chiefs joins them. Work for every unit with a minimum requirement like this. The skink chief isn't bought as a part of the unit.
