On another note: what is it with gamers and metal? If I was making a 40K movie, there would not be any metal on the soundtrack, it would be completely inappropriate. And if I get to have music while I'm gaming, I'd rather have something relaxing. Metal has its place but come on folks, it's a bit too situational to try to pretend there's an appropriate metal track for each 40K race, no? Or any 40K race, for that matter...

I feel like I'm talking to the me of 15 years ago here. God I was an idiot.
Now, to be fair, metal is a VERY broad genre, and there are many, many, many, many different kinds of metal (there are also many many many kinds of rock as well, but that may or may not be relevant here). While I do agree that there are more than a few sorts of metal that wouldn't be appropriate to 40k, there are other kinds, such as symphonic metal, that would be much more fitting, in my opinion at least.

Funnily enough, every time I've been in a Games Workshop store there has always been some sort of metalic song on in the background. Maybe that has something to do with it...

It's not as funny with the new codex, but Street Spirit by Radiohead used to be highly apt for the Necrons.

Every time I play against Necrons I go back about 16 years for a bit of Mechanical Man from C&C.

For my own Guard, though, there are just so many options... I just have a playlist that's running from my phone to the one earphone I keep in while playing of various orchestral and symphonic metal tracks.

    Re: Theme song!

Not a metal song for each army? I'll rise to that challange! (and that without picking a single Metallica song)

Blood Angels: Blood Red Skies ( I cant explain it i've always imaigned Baal with red skies)
Chaos Demons: Progenies of the great apocalypse - Dimmu Borgir (Any blackmetal or doom metal would work)
Chaos Space marines: Dawn of Battle - Manowar (its about killing and enslaving, do i need to explain myself?)
Dark Eldar: Mr Torture - Helloween (its about a guy selling pain to bored people, he'd be all the rage in the dark city)
Eldar: Living in Victory - Hammerfall (Relating to the fall)
Grey Knights: The Devil went down to Georgia - Steve Ouimette (some guy who just happens to own the **** out of the devil yep he must be a grey knight)
Imperial Guard: Longest day - Iron maiden (though paschendale is a close second)
Valhallan Ice Warriors: Talvisota - Sabaton (change all refrences to stalin and russia to more 40k like equilients and all of sudden i have a urge to collect ice warriors)
New Necrons: Pharao - Freedom call (Pharo's in space, i thought Stargate had copyright on that stuff)
Old Necrons: New Frontier - Iron Maiden ("a beast made of metal without a soul", sound a bit like a necron)
Orks: Red Devil - Yngwie Malmsteen ("Red wunz go fazter")
Sisters of Battle: Montsegur - Iron maiden ("As we kill them all so god will know his own...")
Dark Angels: Angel of Mercy - Hammerfall (its about a traitor who is forgiven in death)
The Fallen: Dark Wings, Dark Words - Hammerfall (This is what its like when Cypher shows up)
Space Wolfs: Sleipnir - Manowar (one ridiculous norse mythology rip-off for another)
Tau: Final Forture - Helloween ("They try to reach the final fortune as if they knew the final score")
Tyranids: Nightcrawler - Judas Priest (its a lictor, or maybe a genestealer. You could replace it with basically anything by Cannibal Corpse)
Inquisition: cathedral spires - Judas Priest ("Watching a world expire form up in cathedral spires")
Iron Hands: Brothers of metal - Manowar ("steel is strongest so say we all" is kinda like "flesh is weak")
Thousand sons: - Preminitions of Pain - 3 inches of blood (about a guy who prophesies that his king will be attacked but the king disregard him)

    Re: Theme song!

It was easier finding songs for your enemy though.

Orks: Destroy the Orcs - 3 Inches of blood
Necrons: Damn the Machine - Gamma Ray
    Imperial Guard: 40:1 - Sabaton

Actually, now that I think about it, I think I might make the Warcraft II Human Theme my Guard song of choice...

    Re: Theme song!

Well hey I like Metal so I'l obviously pick mostly metal songs when thinking of certain armies. Makes sense to me. But i also named songs that were not from the Metal genre. When Warhammer had their own record label briefly in the early 90's the bands signed to them were Metal bands. Wraith, D-rok and i think briefly UFO. And yeah I know what the songs about, which is why i said "Dunno why..." :P

A fine choice of music you have there

Blood Red Skies by Judas Priest I never considered for Blood Angels but it seems to fit

For Black Templars I'd go for Chosen Ones by Dream Evil

That or Crimson Thunder by Hammerfall :P

For some reason, this music makes me think of Commissar Cain.

Daylight come and me wan go home
    Day-o…me say day-o
    Daylight come and me w-a-n
    G-o h-o-m-e

For my Dark Eldar I'd say 'Gone Guru' by Lifeseeker, just for sentimental reasons.

There's cheese out there friends. Super Sizzler Cheese toast with grilled Haloumi on top, and the wood elf army book is lactose intolerant.
