    Tau help

I'm painting my first tau models (fire warriors ) I use to have space marines but anyway I'm trying to paint them like the box art , I like the desert schem but my problem is that the vomit brown it says to use dosent look right and its not covering well which makes the paint job look like a 2 years old painted it

An suggestion on a better paint color or better way to paint them ?

    Re: Tau help

Are you painting the Vomit Brown directly over a black undercoat? It's a fairly light brown, so I would suggest putting down another brown as a basecoat before applying the Vomit Brown.
Those who know don't care any more, and those who care don't know.

    Re: Tau help

Vomit Brown is the color I hate the most... When I started my Tau, I only had black primer and so I used that for all my army. White Primer (as people in my gaming group say) is a much better primer for our army. I started using white (not for Tau though) 1 month ago and I'm very happy with it so I suggest you keep up using that (also it makes the minis brighter, which is handy for Tau). For a basecoat, he old foundation Tausept ochre saved me. The paint is great and it has a good consistency in pigment (more paint in it). What you need to know is that this paint has PERFECT coverage and you can paint Vomit brown much easier on it. Make sure you shake it very well before use and itr works wonders. The new gw equivalent of this paint (Balor Brown I believe) is said to be much brighter and therefore I would be tempted to use it as the main color instead of vomit brown snd use that one for highlights (I haven't used the new paints my self and so you have to try that yourself). I also suggest that you buy the new equivalent of Vomit Brown (Tau light ochre) as the new gw paints are supposed to have some differences in tone with the old ones. That means that when you run out of Vomit brown you won't be able to find it anymore and therefore all models you paint after that will be slightly different to your first. What you could do is visit the GW site, go to the paints section and find the painting guide. That is a list with suggestion on colours for certain jobs. Right there you will find an option for Tau armor. I haven't used it myself but you could experiment a bit
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...tCatGameStyle=. An other option is choosing another range of paints like vallejo. I myself am going to do this for my new wood elves (never tried those either so I have no idea how they work). The interent community is excited about them for both being superior to gw's and cheaper but I don't know... I hope I was able to help you. I could be of more help if I hadn't finished my Tau 1-2 years ago... I'm a much better painter right now but my knowledge on painting Tau didn't develop like my skills. Good luck with your project.
