Epic: Armageddon Troop Base Width?

Hello I'm looking at picking up a bunch of Epic scaled minis to use in a magnetised, travel wargaming set. I'm looking at using Rare Earth magnets, but would like to know how wide is the small round base that, say, Epic Space Marines come on? My understanding is each trooper comes on a tiny round base that then slots into a plastic board, or row. Am I even correct there?

Not sure on the exact diameter, but when I made up my tiny travel Space Hulk set, I used a regular hole punch (the one you get in an office supplies place, for punching paper to put in a ring binder) to punch out discs from a roll of magnetic material. Those discs were pretty much spot on.

6mm in my experience, trying to replicate the scale and style with bits of putty and wire.
