Dark Eldar 2500 pts - The Cleansing Of Kaiserslautern VI

CoKVI is a mini campaign that acts as a sequel to an escalation league that was played at Games Workshop: Echelon Village in NJ. The top eight players were invited to join this event, and also a handful of players to take the role of the Necrons - as discovered during the league KVI is a tomb world.

By random determination, each player will play all other opponents one time only for a total of eight games = two Planetstrikes as both an attacker and a defender, and six Battle Missions where three are played as one each of the player's own mission and three opposing missions.

Pairings and Missions have already been established, giving players a chance to gear their lists according to the game...and somewhat the opponent. My own personal goal is to try to play a different HQ choice in each of the games.

Stay tuned for details = Battle Reports coming soon !

Just a quick note on scoring first:

    Primary - Mission
    20-00 Massacre
    15-05 Win / Loss
    10-10 Draw

    Secondary - Victory Points
    0001-0500 = 01
    0501-1000 = 02
    1001-1500 = 03
    1501-2000 = 04
    2001-2500 = 05

Re: Dark Eldar 2500 pts - The Cleansing Of Kaiserslautern VI

After finishing in first place for the escalation league, I thought it was time to have fun trying a variety of units. As mentioned in the opening post, in particular I wanted to try different HQ choices. Sooo...

Game 01: Planetstrike versus Imperial Guard

The Decapitator plus six Haemonculi, each with Huskblade and Hexrifle

Four units of 4x Trueborn with Blasters
Two units of 10x Mandrakes, two Haemonculi with each

Two units of 5x Scourges with Heat Lances

Two units of 20x Warriors, one Haemonculi with each

Three Engines, two Talos and a Parasite

The table was unforgiving at best and featured five objectives = three Bastions and two Gun Placements. Absolutely no other area terrain, other than squares of Aegis Defense Lines occupied by Guardsmen. Best approach I believed was deep striking and hope for the best... I did say hope.

After a miserable display of scatter rolls for the Firestorm, my units quickly followed up in the same manner. More than half of my units arrived on the first turn - unfortunately all but two went went back into reserves due to mishaps. Those two (Scourges and Trueborn) that remained will later be melted for failing to accomplish a simple task of neutralizing a tank. Needless to say, very little productivity.

Second turn brought with it some better results but minimum as far as damage goes - a few shaken vehicles and some dead guardsmen via shooting. Opposing turn of shooting however was far better, everything destroyed except for the three Engines and both Mandrake units.

These would later help to give some sign of hope, destroying units in their path and collecting pain tokens along the way. The stratagem Horrorific Cacophony in particular helped once the Kommisars were destroyed. Time was running out though and unit sizes / models were dwindling. Going into turn five I only had two Haemonculi remaining, having gone to ground on one of the objectives - sadly they didn't last through the Imperial Guard's turn five.

Fun game nonetheless, and congratz to Dan !

    25 - Imperial Guard
    04 - Dark Eldar

Re: Dark Eldar 2500 pts - The Cleansing Of Kaiserslautern VI

    Game 02: Blitzkrieg versus Orks

Duke Sliscus and four Trueborn with Carbines
    - Venom transport with dual Cannons
Two units of five Trueborn, each four Blasters and Blast Pistol
    - Venom transports for both with dual Cannons

Two units of five Wyches, Hekatrix with Agoniser and Blast Pistol
    - Venom transports for both with dual Cannons

Four units of five Warriors with one Blaster
    - Venom transports for all with dual Cannons

Two units of five Scourges with Heat Lances

Three Void Raven Bombers with Flickerfields
    - four Shatterfields
    - four Shatterfields
    - four Implosion

The mission seemed kinda strange when I first read it - giving the better advantage to the Orks for having first turn, but on the flipside allowing the opponent to have the closing move of capture / control objectives.

My friend Dave deploys Stormboyz, Copterz, and Bikerz - places everything else in reserves. I place all of my units in reserve, using deep strike for all except the Bombers.

Two units of Truckz with Boyz arrive as does a Battle Wagon with Burna Boyz. Uneventful at that point having no targets. Two Bombers arrive for me, and also both Trueborn units and one unit of Scourges = mass destruction across the battlefield. Volley of Shatterfields destroys entire unit of Stormboyz, Implosions reduce Bikerz to three modeks, Scourges destroy the Battle Wagon, and both Trueborn units destroy the two truckz.

A near rinse and repeat on the second turn, crippling the Orks mobility. Those on foot easily wiped-out the units that were designed for anti-tank, but were quickly gunned down by fire support from Splinter Cannons. And also the third Bommber, destroying a full unit of Komnados that arrived from reserves.

Turns three and forward were simply a matter of having the Troop transport Venoms bunnyhop flatout to capture and / or contest objectives.

The lists I believe matched well enough against each other and accordingly for the mission, but the amount of anti-tank certainly helped me in this game. Good times though, David !

    20 Dark Eldar
    07 Orks
