An attempt to do a flesh tearers army

I admit it, I often lose intrest in a project if Iīm doing it for to long time. But this will be different, Iīm sure...or well letīs find out!
I aim for an army that will be ready intill the end of september. My first goal is to have about 1750p all painted. And witch army, well a Flesh tearers army of course! I have always liked them, I see them as a bit darker and more brutal than the Blood angels, even if they use the same codex.

I have already started the painting, nothing much but whatīs already done, or almost done is
5 Scouts, one with hevy bolter (the shoulder pads will be repainted and I plan to use the flesh tearers transfers on them)
5 Death companys with jump packs
    Lemartes

    Whatīs on my paintingdesk atm
    1 Death company Dreadnought
    Astaroth

And whatīs left to build and/or paint
    1 Commander
    10 Tactical marines
    2 Rhinos/Razorbacks
    1 Regular Dreadnought
10 Death company marines w. bolt pistol and ccw (I migh use these to be regular assault marines, not sure yet).

And now to the part we all are waiting for, picīs!
First out is the scouts, actually Iīm thinking right now about repainting the whole squad, not just the shoulder pads...

    The Death company.

    Lemartes

And a early WIP on my Death company Dreadnought

Well, thatīs pretty much what I have in my possession right now, but more to come!

That's some very grim looking space marines LOVE IT, also can't see much reason for re-painting the scouts they look great too.

The Dreadnought is closing in for compleation. Hopefully I will find time to finish this mini tonight. Iīm not sure if it will be done in time or not, but it will be intresting to see if I can do it untill tomorrow. Sadly there wonīt be any time to paint untill tonight (if Iīm lucky).

Looking really good! The highlights on the black are subtle yet eyecatching, which is an achievement. The talons look great as well, very well blended and crisp.

Nice painting and I like the pose you've gone with for the dreadnought.

Re: An attempt to do a flesh tearers army

Thankīs for all kind words. The Dreadnought was done last night. I painted it in a total of 8-10h, depending on how you count.
Here it is, and next up for my Flesh tearers should be some tactial marines.

Thats a lovely dreadnought, love the blue contrasting agaisnt the darkness of the model, my only very slight criticism would be the parchment colour would of liked to see a more faded brownish colour but like i said very minor issue for me,and totally out weighed by the whole model

Re: An attempt to do a flesh tearers army

Thankīs a lot! This Dreadnought actually made it to third place at this years The Fang in Stockholm
dazza36: I see youīre paoint with the purity seal, itīs actually with a brown base and then up to brown/grey, itīs look pretty much the same in the pictures, but it might would have been better if I didnīt use the brown/grey end color. Something to think about for next time.

BrotherTearz: I started with black with a little bit of mate medium to take away the gloss in the color. Then I made a mix with Black + dark grey so it was almost black and glöazed it over almost the entire parts that would be black. Then I just kept adding grey to the mix until I got a very light grey. Then I picked out the corners with a heavily diluted off- white color. Thatīs it. For me black is one of the hardest things to paint, and I still have a long way left befor I can say "I can paint black" but many layers with small shiftings in color seems to be the trick. Hope thatīs helps you.

Re: An attempt to do a flesh tearers army

Thank you! Yeah The Fang was really fun, lotīs and lotīs of brilliant miniatures. Did you entered yourself?

Re: An attempt to do a flesh tearers army

Indeed, I entered with a seraphim squad and a Kriegsman with a vox.
Sadly I had no time to prepare so I just took some recently painted models. But I got allot of inspiration. Hopefully I will see you on armies on parade after the summer!
