    Orks - 875 points

    40K Army: Orks
I’m getting back into 40K after not playing since 2nd edition. How does this look for a starting Ork army?

    HQ
Warboss with power klaw, twin-linked shoota, boss pole and ’eavy armour (100 points)
    Troops
5 Nobz with 2 power klawz and trukk with grot riggers and wrecking ball (200 points)
20 Ork boyz with 2 big shootaz and nob with bosspole (145 points)
20 Ork boyz with shootaz and 2 big shootaz and nob with bosspole (145 points)
    10 Gretchin with Runtherd
    Fast Attack
    3 Deffcoptas with 3 twin-linked rokkit launchaz (135 points)
3 Warbikerz with nob with power klaw (110 points)

The warboss will join the Nobz in the Trukk.

    Hi,
It seems pretty good for that pts level, you have fast element, strong CC unit and you will usually swarm a lot of opponents.

However, I think the warbikes are not numerous enough, nobz love painboy and you will have to protect this trukk for 1-2 turns (warbikes and koptas could help here)
I saw that a lot of people tend to use squads of 1 kopta, so maybe you could split them 1-1 and use the pts from the third to add one or two bikes for the warbikers (the wrecking ball is expendable too, trukks usually die when they get shot so their options are often better spent elsewhere ^^).

Otherwise, I think you will have a fun time with them!
    What are your opponents?
    Tell us how it went.

    Hi mate
I would drop the upgrades on the trukk for at least red paint, give the nobs a pain boy and gear them for wound allocation. Drop the gretchin and use points for above. I'd also do what the French guy suggested by splitting the koptas but I'd give them buzz saw and scout them first turn to hunt any armour. And if you have any points left over up the Warbikers numbers or drop them for loot as.

Again just what I'd do. All about play testing and finding what works and what doesn't.
You put your faith in Odin and Thor, we put ours in cannons and whores!

    I would keep the grots.
40pts for this scoring sweet is ace. Then everything else can go murder things ^^

Thanks for the feedback, I'm trying to base it around the contents of Black Reach and the Ork battleforce without adding too many other things yet. Does this look a little better?

    HQ
Warboss with power klaw, twin-linked shoots, boss pole and 'eavy armour [100 points]
    Troops
20 Ork boyz with slugga & choppa, 2 big shoota & nob with bosspole [145 points]
20 Ork boyz with shoota, 2 big shoota & nob with boss pole [145 points]
6 nobz with 2 power klaw, painboy with grot orderly & trukk with red paint job [245 points]
10 Gretchin with runtherd [40 points]
    Fast Attack
Deffkopta with rokkit launcha [45 points]
Deffkopta with rokkit launch [45 points]
3 Warbikerz with nob with power klaw [110 points]

I'm not used to playing with/against Orks but the think that stands out to me is that you've only got 1 unit in a trukk. If I were playing you, taking the trukk out would be no.1 priority. If that goes, well you've got a foot slogging army that won't last long. I'd be tempted to drop the big shootas in the slugga unit and mount them up in like a trukk with a boss with powerklaw too? I don't know if that's possible, but 2 trukks backed with 3 bikes and 2 deffkopta's will give you an aggressive list that can get in combat and do the business early

Thanks for the advice AdaptUK0, however the plan is to send the trukk behind the warbikerz to give it a cover save (which themselves get a cover save due to their special rule).

If I put the boyz in a trukk it would also mean reducing them down to 12 models. Adding another trukk (and probably a battle wagon) are in my plans for expanding in the future.

No problem! I like that you've planned expanding your army later on too, starting off small. I'm also getting back into 40k and one thing I want to do is make sure everything gets painted in my army. Too many times before I've bought a heap of models and found it hard to tackle when they are sat there, staring me down. I've planned a 500pt DE force that I'll expand to 1k, 1.5k over time (when stuff gets painted!)

You'll get a 50/50 cover save from the bikes, correct...but that's quite the risk! Imagine that you don't roll that 4+ on turn 1, and it gets taken out...what's the plan then?

    I guess they will run!
One trukk is always risky but having him covered by warbikes will help. Then you have the koptas first turn in your board (scout) and if you don't begin, trukk and bikes will be at your door at the end of first turn too.
If you can get rid first turn of 2 koptas, 3 warbikers, and a trukk; and then kill nearly 60 orks in 1-2 turns with 875pts of firepower, then kudos on you because if you don't they will be on you turn 3. ^^
