The rule itself say that it kicks in "If a character with this rule [is present]". A Witchhunter in a detachment is such a character if the parent contains a Captain/General because he then has HtL (mind you, nobody claims it doesn't transfer).I'm sorry, but where that bonkers about necessary presence of another character in detachment to get HtL comes from? Do I have some exceptional copy of the book or just missing something?
I seriously, outside of deserved face slapping twisting of words, I cannot see any other interpretation than one of HtL. It really is black and white.
There's nothing wrong with the power level of the book which seems to be quite well-balanced for 8th edition, the problem with it is that the internal balance is horrific, and a third of the units are useless and not worth taking.

Typical cruddace book you mean? He ruins nids, give TK bad internal balance, turns the IG into horrific broken monsters and now this? The man should just stop with the books already! :P
