James Swallow's upcoming Heresy work; pricing...

I noticed not too long ago that the upcoming James Swallow audio drama Garro: Sword of Truth was priced at 15 pounds instead of the usual 10 (my computer has no pound sign!). My reaction was 'Cool, must be a bigger, longer effort, can't be a bad thing.'

Now I see that Fear to Tread is listed as 8.99 instead of the usual 7.99, even though other Heresy books around it (The Primarchs, Shadows of Treachery) are still the normal 7.99. Anyone know what's going on here? Are we to expect more content than usual? Might it just be an error? Is James Swallow charging a little bit more for his work...?

I'm not complaining, it's only (very small amounts of) money. Just curious, is all.

Figured there might be someone with the knowledge to fill in my brain-gap. All thoughts/knowledge welcome

    Cheers,

    Karl

I ordered mine (Fear to Tread) from Amazon the other day, and according to them it is a standard novel of 416 pages and cost about the same as all other novels (6,50€ the time I ordered).

Sword of Truth is, if I recall correctly, a 2 CD set, hence the higher price (similar to the Eisenhorn audio).

Amazon lists them all as 416 pages though. Even the ones which are longer; A Thousand Sons is still listed on amazon.co.uk as 416 pages, even though it's actually over 500 (568 if I recall correctly)! Amazon also tends to knock down the prices (I usually get mine from there anyhow ).

I'm taking this info from the BL website; the 'standard marker', if you like, and the same price that the books cost in a GW outlet.

Interesting about Sword of Truth though, cheers

I've heard that Fear to Tread is longer than the previous books, over 500 pages IIRC, so I'm assuming that's why it costs more.

Great news. Been a while since there was a properly meaty Heresy novel. Still, A Thousand Sons, Fulgrim, Nemesis and The First Heretic were all >500 pages, and yet all 7.99... Anyhoo, may I ask where you heard this?

Nice. Cheers guys. Still seems an oddity to me that it costs a pound more though!

Re: James Swallow's upcoming Heresy work; pricing...

Yeah, but as I've said, I'm not bothered by the price either way. I was just wondering what the price-shift could indicate, considering it is a departure from the norm (however small a departure it may be).

Plus, if one orders via Amazon one loses the chance to buy the book early. Hence why I buy through GW or BL themselves if I've got a few extra quid to spare.

EDIT: Well, it's not 'early', but I didn't want to suggest that Amazon is 'late'... whatever!

You're right of course, ordering from BL is a good way to get the items a bit earlier. You live in the UK as I see, so the book will take only a day or so to reach you. I live in Germany and I noticed, that my pre-orders from BL (which I place from time to time because of the same reason as you! ) are usually only a few days (due to shipping time), a week at most, earlier than amazon.

Fair enough!! I'll confess I never thought of that. Apologies...
