Paint Chipping Cadian Green

I'm going to attempt to paint chip Cadian Green painted armour using a sponge.

I believe a darker colour is usually used to chip, but as Cadian green is a dark colour anyway, I feel the effect may be to subtle. Any colour recommendations? Boltgun Metal maybe?

mix your base colour with black and try that. Highlight the bottom edges of the chips with a lighter green you highlight with elsewhere and use a metallic paint to do a few of the larger ones to make it look like deep chips. The other lighter ones can then be shades further with browns to add come contrast to your chips.
