What happens next - a future timeline of warhammer

The current warhammer timeline ends in 2522 with news that Archeon is gathering his forces in the north (Empire Book). The piece below is one possible take on 'what happens next'.

    Part 1

2522: Initially The Storm of Chaos happens roughly as the Loremaster describes it, with chaos advancing up until the walls outside Middenheim. However with Archeon preparing to lay siege he gets news that Grimgor has pulled his orc forces together and is now getting close the city as well. Archeon postpones his assault to avoid his armies being caught in the rear. He leaves part of his forces to defend their base position and takes the rest to counter Grimgor's force.

Never one to avoid battle Grimgor meets him head on. As the two forces line up for battle Grimgor steps forth and challenges Archeon to fight him. The Everchosen can hardly refuse infront of his followers so accepts. It is a fearsome combat but in truth Grimgor's only hope would have been to take Archeon unawares (perhaps with a headbutt?), in an equal contest he is no match for Archeon and is brutally cut down. The orcs stare across the field at the triumphant Chaos Lord, as at the same moment hordes of Chaos Chosen advance towards them. With the death of their leader their morale is frayed and the orc army soon breaks. Only Grimgor's loyal Immortuls make a last stand.

Archeon returns to Middenheim and unleashes his assault, but time is short and before the city can fall to him the Emperor's army arrives on the field. There are several engagements and then the main forces meet in a final battle. Valten challenges Archeon and is greviously wounded, many die getting him to safety. However Archeon cannot be everywhere at once, furthermore he is a target for all the enemy wizards and artillery - with his bodyguard knights reduced to shreds he himself is eventually taken out by a cannon ball while leading a counter-charge against some Reiksguard. Thus passes the Everchosen, slain not in one to one combat with mighty heroes but by a lowly cannon crew.

The aftermath is somewhat more messy for the victors. The recovering Valten is slain by an assasin, meanwhile the chaos forces still need be flushed out from all the positions they captured across the northern provinces. At the same time however the Empire gets some luck, a second chaos army has broken through Peak Pass but it stumbles into Slyvania. Local reports come in of bitter fighting between the chaos horde and forces of undead led by Manfred - ultimately Manfred emerges the winner but such is the effort expended that for the moment he is unable to attack the Empire. The Empire itself recaptures its northern towns but the gruelling campaign and devastation caused has left the Empire financially bankrupt and heavily indebted to their dwarf allies in terms of war-time loans. Even Brettonia is bankrupt from the expense of sending such large forces to aid its northern ally - on top of which is the cost of all the champagne drunk at court in celebration of victory...

Meanwhile in the far east the Hung tribes take advantage of the recent rise in Chaos energy to make their own simultaneous attack upon Cathay. They are only stopped and driven back at great cost. Though they do wipe out the Hobgoblin kingdom along the way.

2523-2527: All this time the skaven have been watching and waiting. When Archeon seemed poised to obliterate The Empire many on the Council of 13 had contemplated they would have no choice but to send their own armies into the battle for fear that Archeon become unstoppable. They were mightily cheered, and relieved, when Archeon fell. With all the other powers having punched themselves out the skaven unleash their own plan by invading Tilea! The Tilean free companies rush home as news comes of their cities being taken one by one. The Tilean Wars drag on for some years with none of the Old World powers in a position to send aid.

At this time Kislev in the north is still under partial chaos-occupation, the main cities have held out but are islands in a sea of anarchy as the chaos warbands carve out their own petty fiefdoms.

2528: Eventually and with most of Tilea already lost Brettonia is able to declare an Erranty War. However by this point the skaven occupiers are well dug in (excuse the pun) and with their superior technologies and artillery they are more than a match for Brettonia in the ensuing game of sieges. The Brettonians make little headway and eventually winter sets in. Their army, decimated by disease and dysentry, is forced to make its withdrawl. Skaven for the first time own a kingdom on the surface, consequently there is a mass upsurge in Skaven piracy. Among the Council of 13 there is even talk of building a fleet to invade Ulthuan, planning begins though this ambition remains some way off in its potential fulfilment.

Re: What happens next - a future timeline of warhammer

    Part 2

Seven years have passed since The Storm. Kislev still is partially occupied by warring chaos factions. Tilea has fallen to the skaven, Bretonnia's reconquest having failed.

2529: It is at this time the orcs reemerge as a credible threat in the north, a reformed greenskin army led by Borgut Facebeater descends from the mountains to enter Kislev, pushing back both Kislevites and Marauders. To the suprise of many Borgut displays a degree of militaristic skill, having learnt from his own mentor's failings. For the next 12 months the orcs steadily expand their holdings. Many chaos chieftans exhausted from fighting among themselves are crushed, the survivors rally to the banner the strongest survivng warlord - King Gustav of the Sarls.

To the south of Kislev The Empire continues its painful rebuilding of the northern provinces. Aided by financial loans from Dwarf High King Thorgrim and the banking families of Marienburg.

2530-2: Having pushed back the Marauders Borgut Facebeater turns once more to the Kislevites. Within a year Kislev City itself is surrounded. The orcs lack the strength to take the city but for 8 months hold it in a state of permanent siege. However in ths spring of 2531 Karl Franz is finally able to muster enough spare men to send a relief army under Reiksmarshall Kurt Helborg to aid his northern neighbour. The siege is lifted and the orcs fall back to the line of the river Lynsk (central Kislev). The imperial offensive is renewed the following spring but a shortage of supplies prevents further progress.

2534: Kurt Hellborg is recalled to The Empire to deal with a Beastmen incursion into Hochland from the Middle Mountains. But by the end of the year he is forced to retire his post as Reiksmarshal due to growing age and failing health. The Kislev stalemate grinds on while orcs ravage what little remains of the northern half of the realm.

To the south Skaven pirates continue to flourish from their many ports in occupied Tilea. In this year Brettonian and Estalian merchantmen suffer exceptionally heavy losses, trade with Araby is heavily disrupted.

2535: Manfred, mysteriously abscent since his 'Blood in the Border Princes' campaign (2522), returns to Sylvania in secret.

2539: Battle of Da Big Swimming Pool. Skarsnik, Warlord of the Eight Peaks, now immeasurably old by goblin standards, wins a crushing victory over the Skaven destroying a large portion of Clan Mors - the battle taking place on the edge of a vast underground water cistern. However in his moment of glory he is shot and killed by a hidden Jezzail sniper. The enraged night goblins massacre the fleeing skaven.

2541: In an event known as 'The Ungodly Pact' Tsarina Katrina spends the last of her nation's wealth to purchase the aid of King Gustav, ruler of the Norscan Sarls. After the first payment arrives by ship Gustav launches his offensive against the orcs. Borgut Facebeater is killed in battle by one of Gustav's sons. The Kislevites launch a second front across the Lynsk and regain their lost lands, though Gustav demands additional payment from the Tsarina before his men are withdrawn.

2542: A large allied fleet of Brettonian, Estalian and Arabyan ships battles a skaven pirate fleet in the Tilean Sea. The allies win the day but due to allied misunderstandings and poor coordination the battered skaven fleet is allowed to escape.

The year also marks the death of Karl Franz. The aged Emperor falls from his gryffon in a riding accident. There are scenes of grief and mourning across the Empire.

I like this Craze_boi. Seems a rather ignoble end for Karl Franz though Enjoying the Skaven emergence, think that's pretty cool. Good work!
Awake O Dead, for there can be no rest for ye beneath the earth. Let the splintered bones burrow from the grave pall. Let cold fingers grip time-worn blades, and unseeing eyes survey the fields of slaughter. For your time has come once more. And the dead shall walk.

Well by this time he was very elderly, but I agree falling out of the sky is not a terribly glorious end.

    Anyhow onwards to part 3...

    Part 3:

By this point the Kislevites have at last reconquered their kingdom from orcs and chaos. The rest of the Old World has largely completed its recovery, though Skaven still hold Tilea.

    c2560-2580:
Dwarf gunsmiths make improvements in the manufacture and quality of muskets and gunpowder. At the same time King Kazador of Karak Azul develops new tactics of volley fire using rotating ranks. Thanks to these reforms several smaller holds around Karak Azul are retaken from the orcs, goblins and skaven. During these decades both dwarfs and Empire also succeed producing lighter cannons that are somewhat more mobile and less prone to misfires. Even the notoriously unreliable Hellblaster Volley Gun begins to gain reliability. Thus begins what is referred to as 'The Second Age of Gunpowder'. However many of these new human and dwarf innovations are secretly copied by the skaven. The period kick-starts a new technological race between Empire, dwarfs and skaven.

One immediate beneficiary of the improvement in cannons is the Imperial Navy. From the decade of 2570 onward there is a drastic decline in Dark Elf and Norse piracy on the coasts of the Old World, though the skaven pirate-fleets remain a threat.

    2573:
In the Darklands an Ogre migration sweeps down upon the the Chaos Dwarfs. The short ones take heavy losses but use their artillery to drive the ogres back.

    c2580-2600:
With the Norse 'Longship Age' of raiding and pillaging having been effectively brought to a close the Norsemen become increasingly dependant on The Empire for trade. The influence of imperial merchants in Norscan seaports grows, and alongside this dependence the influence of missionary priests from the Temple of Sigmar.

Around this time the Dwarf Empire recaptures a number of its lesser strongholds in the World's Edge Mountains. An expedition is even sent to clear out Karak Varn. Step by step the goblins are pushed back but it is a gradual and bloody process.

Within The Empire population growth combined with timber demands of the increasing Imperial Navy leads to the beginning of significant deforestation. Beastmen and Forest Goblins attack these newly cleared lands but are driven back by bands of Empire State Troops and Militia with the latest muskets from Nuln.

Toward the end of this period Brettonian field armies finally make the belated switch from trebuchets to cannons; though their range of war-machines still lags behind that of the Empire. Slowly and painfully order and civilisation appear to be spreading...

    Part 3b:

At this point the forces of order have made technical advancements and appear to be growing in strength. However a new danger arises.

    2603:
THE RETURN OF NAGASH. After almost a century spent biding his time and secretly building up his forces the resurrected Nagash reveals himself once more to the world. His countless legions sweep down upon the Land of the Dead to assault the Tomb Kings. They are aided by the armies of his loyal lieutenant Arkhan the Black. The Tomb Kings in turn rally to the leadership of Settra. The 'Great War of the Dead' is begun.

    2608-2617:
Brettonia and The Empire attempt a fresh reconquest of Skaven Tilea, this time striking from both east and west. As before the skaven cities are well defended, and even once cut-off on the surface they are easily able to reinforce one another via the underway. Orc raiders from the mountains harry both sides. Once more the invasion is bogged down, the allies having liberated only a handful of smaller towns. In 2617 the allies agree that further offensives should be postponed.

    2620:
After two decades of ferocious resistance and titanic conflict the legions of Nagash overrun the Lands of the Dead and retake Khemri. Many defeated Tomb Kings, including Settra himself are re-raised as slaves bound to the will of the Great Necromancer. Countless other Nekkharan constructs and devices fall into Nagash's hands. Slowly the rest of the world begins to realise the extent of the danger.

    2621:
Nagash sends Arkhan the Black to invade Araby. The dogged resistance of the Tomb Kings has given the Arabyans time to prepare their own defences. The Arabyan city states also have access to the latest firearms purchased from the Old World. Nonetheless they are hard pressed and appeal to the outside world for aid.

At the same time Manfred finally reveals himself and raises the undead host of Sylvania to make war upon the Empire, whose army is wearied by its recent efforts in Tilea. He is aided by several legions of Nagash sent sweeping up from the south, some join up with Manfred while others are sent to harry the dwarfs. (In return for his sworn fealty and in reward for performing the ritual that brought Nagash back into the world the Great Necromancer has promised Manfred he shall have rule of the entire Old World.)

The necromancer Heinrich Kemmler leads a further attack against Brettonia, descending from the Grey Mountains to overrun the provinces around Montfort and Parravon. Parravon itself holds out but is effectively cut off from the rest of the kingdom.

Percieving the extent of Nagash and Manfred's pact the High Elves dispatch military aid to both Araby and The Empire. King Finubar is also bitterly determined to avenge the abduction and murder of his daughter at the hand of Manfred nearly a century earlier. Meanwhile the Lahmian Vampires of Queen Nefeata, already alarmed at Nagash's return, covertly lend their support to the allied forces.

    2622:

Having razed large tracts of Stirland and Talabecland Manfred's army relentlessly advances toward Altdorf. Meanwhile Kemmler rebuffs several Brettonian attempts to relieve the siege of Parravon.

Far to the south Arkhan defeats and overruns several Arabyan cities. A High Elf expeditionary force led by Teclis lands on the coast and links up with the surviving Arabyan Princes.

    2623:
Fearing Altdorf may fall the Grand Theoganist removes the cursed Crown of Sorcery from its hidden vault below Sigmar's Temple and has it melted down. However as the undead close in on the capital the Empire defenders are joined by newly arrived High Elf forces led by King Finubar himself on a star dragon. A great battle is fought outside the walls of Altdorf and Manfred's advance is checked for the first time. His armies temporarily fall back to regroup. In Brettonia combined Brettonian and Wood Elf forces push Kemmler back into the mountains - undeterred he continues to harry the enemy with hit and run attacks, content to keep them occupied.

In the Arabyan theatre the High Elves and Arabyans attempt a counter-offensive against Arkhan's advancing legions. The two sides meet and unleash a torrent of powerful magics against one another. In terms of magical prowess it is a formidable contest, however the undead legions drive back the Elves and Arabyans by sheer weight of numbers.

    2624:
Manfred's second siege of Altdorf. The defenders stubbornly refuse to be bowed. Finubar and his dragon riders seek to strike at Manfred himself but the Vampire Lord is too well defended. Reinforcement contingents from both sides head towards Altdorf. The siege and indeed the war itself hangs in the balance when Manfred is unexpectedly assasinated by a member of his own inner circle. The killer is revealed as a Lahmian vampire sent many decades earlier to infiltrate the Von Carstein force. Manfred's vampire lieutenants fight on but due to their disorganised tactics they are outmanouvred and routed by the allied generals. The surviving vampires are driven back to Sylvania, where over the next several months they are systematically hunted down and destroyed. Nonetheless a number secretly escape into neighbouring Kislev. Seeing this disaster Kemmler ceases his own operations and once more disappears into hiding.

    2625:
While the battered Empire is counting the cost of its victory in the north, Arkhan completes his conquest of Araby. With resistance collapsing the Arabyans make the tactical decision to abandon their last cities and flee to a network of hidden strongholds in the hills and mountains. Many thousands of Arabyan civilians perish in the retreat. Teclis and his High Elf contingent evacuate by sea. For the moment the surviving Arabyans are able to continue their struggle through guerilla warfare, though in truth they are now too weak to pose Nagash or Arkhan any serious threat.

From his throne room in Nagashizzar Nagash curses the deceased Manfred Von Carstein for his abject failure in The Old World. However despite this annoying setback none of his enemies possess sufficient strength to challenge his new supremacy in the south. For the time being he is content to replenish his energies and build up his forces. For the moment there is an uneasy cessation of hostilities, but the rest of the world knows full well that the threat has not yet passed...

Re: What happens next - a future timeline of warhammer

    Final chapters.

    Part 4
Nagash has returned and conquered The Lands of the Dead and Araby. Many defeated Tomb Kings are now enslaved to his will. However the armies of the Old World have resisted him for the moment...

2675: Nagash once more sends his armies north against the Old World. This time deploying his full strength in an effort to crush the heirs of Sigmar. His armies sweep through the Badlands but are checked by a new line of defensive works erected in the Border Princes. The High Elves send what aid they can but are themselves attacked by Malekith's Dark Elves. Seeing the full strength of Nagash's armies the allied generals realise that even if they should prevail then that victory will only be achieved with an appalling loss of lives.

2676: At this moment a forgotten warrior re-emerges from the mists of time. With Nagash's armies otherwise engaged Abhorash and the Blood Dragons launch an unexpected strike on Nagashizzar. In a daring ariel assault they fly in on zombie dragons, landing upon the ramparts and then fighting their way through the citadel. They still face formidable defences and only Abhorash and a small handful of followers reach the Throne room alive. While his followers hold back a tide of undead soldiers Abhorash battles with Nagash and kills him in single combat. Many undead crumble and the few surviving acolytes flee. Far to the north many enslaved Tomb Kings suddenly find themselves once again free of Nagash's will, the undead force begins to fight among itself. Striding through the mayhem Settra reaches his old foe Arkhan and smites him down. The remaining Tomb Kings then make their way back to Khemri.

2677-2680: With the Nagash threat finally averted The Empire and Brettonia pour their remaining resources into the sea-war against the Dark Elves. Malekith's invasion of Ulthuan grinds to a halt after combined fleets of High Elves, Imperials and Brettonians sink most of his ships cutting off his supply lines to Naggaroth. Malekith is forced to extract what forces he can and return home. By way of further punishment High Elf ships ravage the shores of Naggaroth leaving the Dark Elves severely weakened and their slave-economy close to ruin.

During these years the last followers of Nagash try to hold on in Araby. However the skaven unexpectedly burst forth from hidden tunnels below the occupied cities, thus taking the realm for themselves. Meanwhile bands of surviving Arabyans are still holding out in the wilderness. These now pledge fealty to the Tomb Kings.

    Part 5

c2700-2750: The major Old World Powers of men, dwarfs and skaven continue their technological advancements. Each faction in its own fashion also seeing a substantial growth in trade and industry. The Empire and Brettonia step up their internal 'pacification' of the goblins and beastmen lurking within the hills and forests. The Dwarfs resume their reconquests in the mountains. These are aided by the building of a fleet of dwarf new airships, crewed by riflemen and grenadiers. Karak Varn, Mount Gunbad and Mount Silverspear are retaken. With the Old World situation for the moment in deadlock the Skaven launch a new war against the Lizardmen of the Southlands. Clan Skyre leads this initiative equipping its clanrats with new long-range muskets which prove highly effective and tip the balance against the Lizardmen.

2751: A rising tide of magic in the north forewarns of a new Chaos incursion. However this time the invasion is against the depleted realm of Naggaroth. Having previously tolerated the Dark Elf Kingdom due to their war against the High Elves the Big Four have evidently now decided that the Dark Elves, after repeated setbacks, have outlived their usefulness. A combined force of Marauders and Daemons pours down into Naggaroth. The Dark Elf armies are overwhelmed. In a final act of treachery and bid to save herself Morgathi summons forth a Keeper of Secrets, allowing it to materialise in the throne room of Naggarond and kill Malekith. However Morgathi herself is driven mad by what she has done. With the forces of Chaos triumphant the shifting wastes expand to swallow up Naggaroth.

2779: The Third Skaven Civil War. Thanks to the ongoing technological advancements over the past century clan Skyre has taken an increasingly dominant position in skaven society much to the resentment of others on the Council who feel their own power ebbing away. This resentment eventually boils into outright civil war that spreads across the whole Under-Empire...

2810-2830: The vicious skaven civil war continues. Clan Skyre battle their principal challengers Clan Pestilens, though other factions also form. The Skyre faction holds Skavenblight but can do nothing to subdue the provinces of the Under-Empire. At this time many clans begin secretly producing their own warpstone-technologies, including notably Clan Moulder. As a consequence of the continual infighting the skaven lose Tilea to combined Dwarf and Empire offensive, the humans attacking on the surface and dwarfs fighting grimly through the tunnels below. For the moment the divided skaven hold onto their conquests in Araby and the Southlands.

2841: Word reaches Karaz-Karak that the surface and upper levels of Karak Eight Peaks have at last been reclaimed from the night goblins. Thorgrim Grudgebearer, now incredibly aged even by dwarf years, dies peacefully. A new High King is crowned.

2869-2895: As the dwarfs consolidate their reclaimed holds along the east edge of the World's Edge Mountains they come under attack from the Chaos Dwarfs who having subdued the Ogre kingdoms on their east flank are now expanding westwards. However in their greed and corruption they have underestimated their former kinsmen. In response to Chaos Dwarf attacks the Dwarfs declare an all-out offensive. Armies march back and forth on the plains of the Darklands. Terrifying K'daai Destroyers burn through units of dwarf slayers, while they in turn are blasted by Cannons and Anvils of Doom. The dwarfs hold their own in the mountains but initially struggle to match their dark kin on the open plain. Dwarf airships bomb the Chaos Dwarf factories on the Plain of Zharr from the sky, while their gunner crews pour frantic fire into attacking Llamasu. Yet ultimately it is the entry of Kislev into the fray that tips the balance. The Kislevites have begun settling new territory to the east of the High Pass, consequently they too have seen clashes with the chaos dwarf raiders. The support of the Kislev horsemen gives the dwarf armies much needed mobility. The chaos dwarfs are pushed back to the Plain of Zharr where for a time the dwarf and kislevite advance is checked. The High King vows that before he dies he will erase the Chaos Dwarfs from the world and thus erase the greatest shame ever to befall his proud race.

2892-2896: Clan Skyre wins a strin of victories over its closest rivals. Plaguelord Nurglitch, one of the oldest and evilest skaven alive, is assasinated by a Clan Eshin assasin using a warplock pistol. However with other clans now producing their own warpstone technologies the Skyre ascendancy is still not assured. Meanwhile humans of the Old World uncover and destroy a number of skaven nests below their cities, including the city of Under-Altdorf. Finally the Grey Seers draw together the survivng members of the Council to patch together a settlement. However a number of the outer regions of the Under-Empire are no longer willing to be ruled from Skavenblight. The seperatists are even joined by rogue Seers seeking their own aggrandisement, many such upstarts then title themselves as 'Seerlord'.

Meanwhile Dwarf hopes of totally obliterating the Chaos Dwarfs are checked by the arrival of a horde of Chaos Warriors from the wastes. The Dwarfs are forced to pull back to the mountains while the Chaos Dwarfs are forced to give fealty to the Chaos Lord who leads the barbarian horde. Henceforth the Chaos Dwarfs are made slaves and workers to the northmen who settle in their kingdom. The Dwarfs for the moment return to hunting goblins in the mountains. Though now weakened as a faction the greenskins are a problem that never seems to entirely disappear, and ominously several tribes have started using black powder.

    Part 6:

c2900-2951: The Empire continues to forge ahead with its development, closely followed by Brettonia. It's warships are able to carry much greater armament than their High Elf counterparts. The Imperials also suceed in launching their first dwarf-style Ironclads. What they covet above all else is access to the lucrative trade with the East which the High Elves have for centuries denied them. Matters reach a tipping point in 2927 when an Imperial fleet attempts to pass the tip of the Southlands and is challenged by a High Elf Armada from the Citadel of Dawn. There is an exchange of fire and for the first time the High Elf fleet is forced to give way. This episode is later referred to as 'The Forging of the Golden Passage'. It is a symbolic moment marking a decline in High Elf power compared to the rising human civilisations. For though the High Elves still weild potent magiks they have been left behind in the race for powerful technology. Further High Elf attempts to seal the maritime passage are rebuffed. With the trade-routes now firmly open The Empire now outstrips even dwarfs in terms of material wealth.

Meanwhile the remaining vampire bloodlines continue their centuries-long game of plotting behind the scenes, as do the now-divided but still deadly skaven. But of far greater concern is a sense of a darkness growing once more in the far north. Within the Realm of Chaos itself the power of the dark gods is once more growing to apocalyptic proportions...

2952: The demonic legions prepare to burst forth upon the world in a new incursion, the greatest the world has yet seen, a final invasion to eclipse all others. But as the Realm of Chaos begins to swell in size there is a sudden and unexpected shift in the winds of magic. Unperturbed by events taking place elsewhere in the world the elder Slann of Lustria have continued for millenia to work on the plan of the Old Ones. They now engage in an epic ritual that succeeds in shutting down the warp gates. Chaos still exists but no longer has direct access to the world. Cheated of ultimate victory the Big Four rage with fury, for the fate of the warhammer world is now in the hands of its own inhabitants. The planet may yet drown itself in blood but it is mortals not gods who will shape its final destiny.

You wouldn't happen to play Skaven would you.

Nice story, but I have some remarks if I may...

Greenskins can't maintain a siege for 8 months. They would just get bored and wander off, or start looting easier targets.
Gorbad Ironclaw's siege of Altdorf failed because he couldn't breach the walls fast enough.

The Crown of Sorcery can't be melted down. If it were that easy the Empire would have gotten rid of it decades ago
It's a magical item that can't be destroyed by normal means (much like the One Ring) and as such it is locked away.

Morathi would never betray her son. She is utterly loyal to (ond often the source of) his ambitions.
Malekith betraying Morathi I could see happen though.

I happen to play OnG actually. Basically in the 'present day' warhammer there is a lot of technological innovation, I recon if the timeline moved forward then it would benefit those who are most able to evolve technologically - skaven included.

Not sure about this one. Even if it was immune to normal fire I suspect it could be destroyed by magical means somehow. (With the one ring I always wondered why they couldn't just drop it in the ocean.)

Nonetheless I take this and all your other comments on board.

A powerful magical item like that needs a suitably powerful magical ritual to destroy it. Unfortunately the Colleges don't have rituals powerful enough in some cases, which is why the (blasfemous) items are stored out of harm's way (beneath the Cathedral of Sigmar or the College of Light) until mages or priests can devise a way to safely get rid of them.

As for the One Ring: not all servants of sauron are humanoids. Some animals serve him as well.
Could you imagine angler fish with the Power of the One Ring?

Didn't realize that before, but if that is how it works then fair enough.

As for the One Ring: not all servants of sauron are humanoids. Some animals serve him as well.
Could you imagine angler fish with the Power of the One Ring?
Well as a rule the only 'animals' that serve him are the creatures made by Melkor (though there was one passage about Saruman using crows as spies which suggests sauron could probably do likewise). But never seen any reference in the source material to sea-creatures serving Sauron or Melkor. It's hyperthetically possible Sauron could bend a group of fish to his will, but even so the ocean is pretty big - it would probably take his fishy-minions many thousands of years to search even one small piece of the ocean floor.

The crown of sorcery could reasonably destroyed if you were to make use of a storm of magic, perhaps invoking runes with the help of dwarven runesmiths upon an anvil of doom could destroy such a fell item.
greenskins are unpredictable, but if they had good sport when employing siege warfare they would stick around, especially if more boyz were showing up to help get "da 'umies"

I thought it was really good read but i dont think Morathi would kill Malekith even as act of Desperation.

It is explained in the book that the ring has its own will, and so can't be simply hidden, because it always find a way to be found, as when Gollum lost it in order for Bilbo to find it. Drop it into the ocean and eventually it will be caught into a fisherman net, or someone will find it ashore, or something like that.

Well it must be a deep fishing net to reach the bottom of the ocean. As to getting ashore I don't think the ring can move on its own. it escaped from gollum because it can adjust its size to fit any finger, thus by making itself loose it slipped off his hand.

Yes, but it fell off his finger to land somewhere where Bilbo would find it.

Even if under the sea, it would end up somewhere where it would be eaten by a fish, which would be caught in someones net...etc, etc, etc.

They actually discuss this topic at the Council of Elrond, but I don't recall the precise detail.

Pretty nice. Honestly, I didn't read it very thoroughly since I'm getting a bit tired, but it was overall impressive. I mostly just skipped straight to the end to see if you wrote about the end of the Warhammer world. I've been trying to find information related to it for an RPG campaign I plan on playing, even if written by fans.

    Thanks, glad you like it.

I guess the 'official' end is that chaos incursions just get bigger and bigger until everyone is dead. my end had a bit more optimism.
