A fifth Spyrer. Your thoughts and assistance, please.

    Hello there,

I've come up with a fifth Spyrer. Not because I felt they needed it, or there's a specific role that needs filling, but just because I thought it'd be cool. I'd like to hear your thoughts on him and since he feels like he's far from finished, I'd also like your assistance in filling him out in a fair and balanced way. It's a heavy armoured Hunter armed with a Flamer and a Chainfist.

A note of caution: I'm crap at this.

    Cerrus
Cerrus Hunters utilize flame and tooth to kill their prey. They are aware of the terror they cause with their kills and take delight in it. Their fire resistant armour protects them from their own flames, which is good, because they like nothing better than to make their presence known to the enemy by setting fire to everything before them.

    Weapons:
The Cerrus is armed with a Flamer and a Chainfist (rules below).
    Armour:
The Cerrus suit gives the wearer the following characteristic increases: +1WS, +1T. These increases have already been included in the profile above.

The Cerrus suit is Immune to Flamer attacks. It also provides the wearer with a 4+ armour save. The Cerrus is also equipped with a Bio-booster, a Respirator (Filter plugs), Infra-red Goggles and Photo contacts.

Chainfist: The Chainfist has a S4 (included in the profile above) in close combat. Against structures, this Strength is increased to S8. This increased strength does not increase to S10 if the Chainfist gets a Strength upgrade (See Cerrus Power Boost table).

Okay, for now, this is it. If I put in too much, I tend to loose focus so I'd really love to hear what you guys think of this part so far. But please just technical critisism, if you personally don't think a fifth Spyrer is needed, too bad.

I'd also like to know what you guys think the cost of this suit should be.

Thanks for reading, more will be added in this post soon.

Before I get started on anything else, is it meant to look like a Terminator without shoulder pads in a fishbowl helmet with dreadnought CCWs for feet?

Spyrers use highly advanced technology, often entirely beyond the ken of those they are fighting.

This guy seem to be more like MK1 Iron man (from the movie) big clunky and crude. Fair enough if you want a terror weapon but a close-in spyrer with M4 and I1 he's gonna spend his life being shredded by overwatch gunfire or pinned eternally.

Reducing the armour save but adding a "heat haze" rule of -1 to hit might not go amiss making him dangerous but not just an alternative Orrus with a flamer.

I'd also advise an incendary or smoke launcher (the former based on hotshot shells maybe) on the power boosts to give a slightly longer ranged option to keep opponents pinned.

About the Initiative, that was something that slipped by me. (Easily done with I1). It's corrected now.

About looks, that's just me doodling.

About the movement, I don't consider it "fair" to give him, say, M6 so he can close quicksnap with the enemy and scorch them all to death. A 2+ ammo roll flamer is quite a powerful weapon in my opinion. I just want to give my opponents a chance to get away

I do however really like that 'Heat Haze' suggestion. I'll have to give that some thought. (Along with the changed 5+ save).

Could you clarify on that incendiary launcher? I like the idea.

The launcher, you know i had in mind a mid-long range suppresson weapon to keep enemies pinned.

My first idea was a Hotshot Shotgun shell, but subsequently I thought that a form of smoke/flash/incendary grenade launcher.

For the first: well the rules exist already.

For the second I was thinking 18" range with the standard rules for the grenades and resolving the incendries as a standard flamer but with a standard 'nade template.

Straight copy and paste from Yakromunda. I think we're on the same path here.

Okay guys, I need to know if this is too much, but I've been considering giving the Vatra's flamer a secondary attack. Instead of spraying fuel like a normal flamer he can also charge his weapon up and fire a ball of fire that will explode upon impact. Spyrer gear is off-world, high-tech gear after all. The technology used is based on Plasma weaponry technology. I've been thinking something along the lines of this:

    SR: 0-6, +1 LR: 6-16, -1.
    Strength: as flamer attack.
    Save mod: -1.
    Damage: 1.
    Ammo roll: 2+.
Special: Blast/ gas template. See what's best/ fairest here. (Is there still a difference between these two in the LRB? Don't see it if it is).

What do you guys think? Does it need a re-charge rule added?
