Guardians of the Covenant (DA succesor) by Rob and Roll

Greetings fellow painting and moddeling enthousiasts!

This will be a log on a Dark Angels succesor chapter called "Guardians of the Covenant".
Here is the official background information (fluff for the insiders) and a picture of the painting scheme in the DA codex.

The Guardians of the Covenant are an Unforgiven Chapter whose adopted home world lies close to the western rim of the Imperium. The Chapter has fought many battles along the marches of Segmentum Pacificus, and has spearheaded a number of crusades into the Halo Stars. The Guardians of the Covenant gained special honours for their deeds during the Lelith Incursion, when they saved an entire sub-sector from the alien Leliths’ particularly appalling brand of subjugation.

The Chapter is known for its exceptionally monastic character, and its brothers very much regard themselves as warrior-monks. They pursue the scholarly arts as much as the martial, and are assiduous in studying the teachings of the Emperor and of their Primarch. Their banners, armour and the flanks of their vehicles are covered in spidery, hand-written and illuminated text extracted from the pages of the Codex Astartes, the Requiem Angelis and many other tomes held sacred by the Space Marines. The Chapter’s Fortress Monastery takes the form of a mighty cathedral, its spire piercing the clouds of their mountainous home world of Mortikah VII.

I find these painting logs stimulating and they help me finish (or redo) an army. Dark Angels were my first army way back in late 2nd early 3rd edition and I painted them in the traditional green colours. When the 4th edition book came out I was triggered by the background and painting scheme of the GotC. I like the robes on the marines and this gave me a reason to do an all robed army. Now I know not all of you are into that or like to keep it to sergeants only, but the idea and feel of the monk warrior in robes is something I do like. The metal robed models were easily available in my LGS and I got myself enough models to play an all robed marine list. I painted most of the army models in this scheme but fell in love woth different armies after that.

A year ago I wanted to play my marines again and decided expand the army with Ravenwing models. My painting skills had incrased over time and I quickly discovered that my bikes looked way better then my marines did, so I have to do those over. All in all I will use this blog to show some of my already finished models, but also to stimulate me to finish the rest of the army to a decent gaming standard before the next edition (and hopefully new DA codex/models). My pictures are made with a telephone, but with the help of GIMP (image editing) I will hopefully be able to present you with some decent pictures to look at.

I will start of with a few pictures to give you an idea of the army so far:

Some of these still need some final details like army symbols on the shoulder pads.

Nice work. I agree with you that robed space marines are cool and whole armies are even cooler. I like lightning claws and how you've painted the glow around the lights.

    Thank you very much.
Nice to hear that more people enjoy an all robed Dark Angels force.

I have made a pic of a few tactical marines with sergeant and meltagun. It's a bit blurry so I will add better ones later (when the rest are done).

With the 6th edition approaching fast, with possible loving for the Dark Angels, it is time for a much needed update on the army.

Below are some army shots showing most of the finished units.

Still working on 15 tactical marines and another small Ravenwing squad.

    What do you guys think?
