    ThePope does Rustcrons

**Last image of Exploritor Fleet landing team's pic feed**

After being heavily inspired by Bowling's log http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...127-Rust-Crons I have decided to do some rustcrons. My idea was that it was a lost dynasty that been re activated on a swampy death world. Something has gone wrong with the tomb world so the living metal isn't functioning properly and it on takes a rusty hue after time. I have envisioned them crawling up through the swamps covered in algae and moss etc ready to kill what ever has activated them.

To start off I worked on a scarab base to get colours sorted.

Was quite happy with these though not so convinced on how my heaving washing of tharaka green as worked for to give them a slight algae colour.

So with being happy with the scarabs I moved on to the warriors. I still don't know what colour to do the weapons or what colour to do the "eyes" on the scarabs and warriors. Was thinking of even leaving the warriors eyes pits of black and then just trying to figure out what to use on the scarabs.

Again I have used a tharka green wash on top of delvin mud here to try and get a slight green tinge to the "fresh" living metal. Not sure how well it has come out in the images. The odd black patches are intended as I took inspiration from a lot of failed steel beams i see in my work and often they are pitted with dark dirty oxidized patches that almost look black.

Any C&C is welcome as I am struggling to pick a colour for the weapons that helps balance out the "bland" rusty nature of the crons.

Nice rust effect. I think that greens or blues would stand out well against the red/orange of the rust.

Cheers, just wondering if it would look odd having 1 block colour for the weapons, I'm not going to do a beat up effect for the weapons as I feel they could be produced quite easily in a "forge" as such so could be turned out quite fresh at a rapid rate though again I'm not quite sure if this will be too much of a contrast.

Knocked up 2 more warriors, for these two I used a heavy "splodgy" glaze of waywatcher green. Also used a lighter metallic mix for the "fresh" living metal. Still not sure on the weapons or the vehicles, thinking of perhaps a weathered stone or ceramic effect when I found out how best to do them!

Quick update, busy life at the moment so not much paining done however I have decided on a colour scheme for the vehicles and weapons of my Necron army, done a tester on the above 4 warriors and I am quite happy with it. I am going for a dirty ceramic/bone effect with heavier doses of "algae" on it due to the base colour.

Sorry for the image quality, source lighting was poor.
