    artillery cover saves

how do you know if a artillery piece with crew inside terrain benfits from a cover save

is it like a vehicle so 50% must be obscured or does it just gain cover save for being inside terrain

The artillery piece itself is a vehicle, the crew are normal infantry (typically); work out wether each element of the unit is in cover or not using the rules for its type then, if more than half the models in the unit are in cover, the unit is in cover.

The same principle applies to units containing Monstrous Creatures and regular infantry and any other "combination" unit out there.

ok, so if you have a techmarine with thunderfire cannon sat in cover it will benefit from s cover save because of the techmarine

    Yes. Yes they will.
1222. It's a stranglehold. Not an Ogryn neck pinch.
1395. Eldar really hate it when you greet them with "Live long and prosper".
1537. My Rogue Trader does not need to announce his arrival with eight hours of orbital bombardment.
1572. The Navigator has Warp Sight. Not Insane-o-Vision.
1594. Flak armor is not just a muscle shirt with the word "ARMOR" stenciled on it.

Note: Half the models in cover is enough, it doesn't need to be more than half as Mr Rose phrased it.

And if the Techmarine was in the open and the thundergun behind a rock that obscured it to 50%, both would also gain cover saves.
    Awesome. Awesome to the head.
