    GW Stole my character!?!

Hello Warseer, it's been a long time since i posted on these forums. You see I've been on a long hiatus form the hobby, point of fact I was never sure if I'd get back into it. However recently, with the release of Codex Dark Eldar my intrest was piqued and I realised how much I loved 'em and all things eldar. Anyways I ordered the dark eldar codex and it arrived today, now i was reading the little background piece on page 44 which mentions a Commissar Radczech, a throw away name yes?
Well actually no, before i took a hobby break I used to play inquisitor and my character was an inqusitor Severus Radczech of the ordo xenos, i actual fact i created a lot of backstory for him, but thats for another time maybe. Anyways I was dumfounded when I came across this, I mean what are the chances? The name was based on lietenant rascack (i think) from starship troopers, but there you go

Anywho just thought you may want to know, and bask in the incredulity of it all

That GW would happen to use the same spelling of a name that one out of the thousands of GW players once used? Pretty good. Statistics is fascinating stuff.
Man, I've seen this all before, and there's only one way it can end. In blood, tears, and the limp-wristed flailing of nerd-slaps.

My daemon prince had a background that involved him rebelling from Mortarion, being driven mad by the non-linear nature of time in the Warp and experimenting with Nurgle's Rot to try and improve it, along with a bunch of other little things that seem to have cropped up in GW characters and storyline in the time since I made him. So yeah, I've been a little annoyed at Typhus, Fateweaver et al.

My reaction was to just rewrite everything from scratch because if I tried to explain the background now it'd sound like a half-baked mashup of canon characters. It's a shame, but also likely to be a coincidence, no stealing involved.

Kinda put me off writing anything in the 40k universe.

Your own OP makes it clear they didn't "steal your character". At best (worst?) they stole the surname you used. Not the same thing at all.

    FYI, it's spelled Rasczak.
"From the fires of betrayal, Unto the blood of revenge, We bring the word of Lorgar, The Bearer of the Word, The favored son of Chaos; All praise be given unto him, For those that would not heed, We offer praise to those that do, That they might turn their gaze our way, And gift us with the boon of pain, To turn the galaxy red with blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods." - Excerpt of the 341st book of the Epistles of Lorgar.

Um, hello? GW's been borrowing/paying homage to classic sci-fi and fantasy since their inception. Forget the Starship Troopers movie, go read the book and find out where Space Marines and Radchech really come from.

Back in 1999, two years before I even heard of Warhammer 40k I drew a picture of a Chaos Defiler.
