    Necron royal court load out

    Hi guys

Im thinking of picking up Necrons and had a couple questions on optimal Cryptek configs.

Harbringers of destruction and despair seem like great buys but I'm less sure about the storm and transmog ones. Is lightening field worth it? What about the harp? Necrons seem to have plenty of anti vehicle stuff as is...

How do you run your court? I didn't really see the point of lords tbh but happy to be convinced otherwise!

    Cheers
    Capitalization is the difference between

"Helping your uncle Jack off a horse"

    And

"Helping your uncle jack off a horse"

Light a man a fire and he will be warm a night. Light him on fire and he will be warm the rest of his life.

Without getting my Necron codex, and I do not have a necron army...

Crypteks have a bunch of bells and whistles, that if I had a Necron Army, would probably sit together in a transport. If I wanted to have a lot of points in one spot, I'd put the full court in the transport and should be able to kill most squads that get too close.

I figure that most Necron lords would be assigned to other squads. They're not ICs so you cannot target the guy with the Res Orb. The hidden chainfist would be nasty as well. (Again, without looking, I'm assuming that the regular lords can get Warscythes)

lords are generally not used in lower point games unless your going for a teleporting death-blob (full cryptek squad with the veil of darkness + whatever goodies you want then a special character or two and then maybe 1-2 cheap lords)
transmogrification are great for your troops that you move into mid field objectives, seismic crucible+tremorstave can slow down assault units quite a bit.
eternity crypteks are great, put them in with four destruction crypteks and you have a great tank hunting unit, put two in with a 10 man sword+board lychguard squad with a couple of ICs and you have an insanely tough and powerful, but slow melee unit
storm crypteks are good for teleporting melee squads and for short range vehicle breaking
my preferred squad (for how inefficient it is) has one of each cryptek, despair using the veil for teleporting within 9-12 inches from a tough unit (terminators usually) then I have a destruction cryptek with a solar pulse for utility, an eternity cryptek with chronometron, the storm cryptek with lightning field and a tranmogrification cryptek with seismic crucible along with a overlord/special character with a res orb and phase shifter, then 1-2 warscythe lords, just drop it in behind a tough unit fire everything I can then watch them fail to assault it because of the crucible, or if they get lucky get ripped up by the lightning field

Its funny, I prefer an all-out approach with the cryptecs... usually using a double court.

If I take storm cryptecs, I take 2 with lightning fields. Same thing with transmogrification, but with 2 seismic crucibles, to avoid being assaulted.
destruction cryptecs are the most common, usually in pairs with 5 warriors or in groups of 4-5 in a stolen ark. Solar pulse (at least 1) is mandatory.
2 abyssal staffs (1 veil) with deathmarks create an awesome suicidal unit (2 AP1 templates that wound on 2+!!!)
chronometron cryptecs are usually used with obyron+lychguard combo, to reroll DS rolls and invul. saves. Or with Imotekh, anrakhir, etc...
lords are not worth it IMHO...

While we're on the subject, would anyone be able to tell me if I'm doing anything MAJORLY wrong with the oldcron army I just inherited from a friend? It was made last codex, and so is basically 50+ warriors, some scarabs, a pair of wraiths, a Monolith, and a Destroyer Lord to lead them. So with that in mind, I'm wondering how viable a footslogging Warrior army is (since this is just to substitute my first love, my IG, so I just want to buy some characters and leave it all be) in a casual meta.

The plan is to just convert up a bunch of courtly characters to lead what is otherwise a bunch of warrior blobs, lead by 2 Overlords, their courts, and some Lychguard.

To that end, I went with 2 identical courts of 1 Lord (Warscythe) and 1 Cryptek (Destruction, Solar Pulse). The warriors basically form up and advance under cover of night with Solar Pulses and grind the enemy down at close range, and the Lords are there for some S7 melee muscle - but I'm wondering if I really need two pulses when I could, for instance, drop down to one Overlord+Cryptek w/Pulse and save some points, or run a different Cryptek (Despair with Veil of Darkness looks good for my footsloggers).

    Any suggestions, fellow Warseers?

a good idea might an overlord with phaeron, res orb and warscythe and imotek the stormlord along with 2 destruction crypteks with solar pulses, and 2 eternity crypteks with chronometron
put each IC in a twenty man squad of warriors along with one of each cryptek, this gives you the cover of nightfight, some real ability to hurt tanks and a good chance of your warriors getting back up, plus imotek's ability is always good

a squad of 5-6 wraiths with whips is great for destroying terminators and the like

your monolith is great for either cover for your advancing troops or deepstriking late game onto an empty objective and pulling out a squad

that's about 1500 points with a little bit to spare

if you like the idea of lychguard, 10 of them with shields plus two eternity crypeks with chronometrons, vargard obyron and an overlord with a res orb, mindshackle scarabs, warscythe and phase shifter along with nemesor zahndrekh hiding in a group of warriors is an (expensive) but powerful mobile deathstar that will take a large amount of damage
although it runs you nearly 800 points
