Ooooh, Mordians! Or well, the models at least. Nice colour scheme, really hoping to see this army grow as it's way too seldom that logs with the classic Guard range pop up.
Nice work so far Pickle_mole![]()
Thanks guys, gonna go drop some cash on the basing materials. Ive got about 20 models (primed) so far, always loved the mordians as a kid but never had the money. Tried to do a gas mask pig iron army but just got bored. Also im OCD in the way that my army has to make logical sense, so having all my soldiers with gas masks but an officer without one drove me nuts. So screw the gas mask boredom, ill take my mordians.

You made the right choice! The old Guard metals are awesome sculpts still, and definitely outshine the all too common Cadian + Pig Iron heads regiments (which I've been guilty of making myself...). You are basing the weapon teams on 60mm (or is it 50mm...?) bases, right? Improves their look a lot, IMO, compared to one being on 20mm base and the other without, as the old style goes.

Ya im going to but my local shop is closed and all they have is the 8 dollar blisters that only come with one![]()
And the scheme is a complete ripoff of the standard cadian one, thought it would work well with mords.
Very nice looking Mordian, and more power to the superior metal sculpts.
Always had a soft spot for the Mordian Iron guard, but as my army currently contains all metal Cadians, Catachans, and Steel Legion.. I've been forced to restrain myself from buying Mordians for the time being. (that and I still need to find/make a good Shanko so I can have them as peninsular Brits.)
Lovely chaps! Keep 'em coming.![]()

Latest progress is looking good mate! Might I suggest you use IMG tags for your images instead of embedding them like that though? Just add [ IMG ] (without spaces) before the image link and [ /IMG ] after it. Makes for a much nicer viewing experience! Keep it up with the painting though, looking forward to more.

Roger will do! Im kind of stuck on what to do with the gap in the base, do you guys leave them or fill them with something?
I usually fill any gaps with green stuff. If you dont want to use too much G.S, glue a bit of shaved down sprue into the the gap (flat and level with no protrusions ) then G.S over it. Hope that helps![]()
I usually fill them during the first "flocking stage" when I slap a mix of sand and glue onto the base, that fills it pretty well and the sand will (in my case anyways) get undercoated and painted along so you won't see anything. but a bit of the sprue to fill it up helps aswell as been said before, or use some form of cheap putty (revell or something), that's pretty good at it aswell. LEaving the slots open always looks kind of unfinished, which is a shame really.
Oh, and there's nothing wrong with gasmasks, my steel legion troopers take offence at that. But seriously, awesome to see you choosing some old regiment, we don't see nearly enough of those around these days, keep 'em coming.
And @ explodingboy: Do what I begun to do, just start with small platoons of regiments not belonging to the one you choose, base them the same and give them the same campaign markings and it really ties together as a Guard force which has been drawn from various planets. It really adds character to your army imo.
Hey Pickle,
Cant you order them direct? I know it will take longer but then your not paying for shedloads of other bases you dont need? I really like the army so far man, love to see people using some of the older guard models they have so much more personality than Cadians or Catachans.
Just a thought.
Best way to fill the gaps, is green stuff, though you can get away with almost any sort of filler too (cheaper than greenstuff/ though when your sculpting it's also a great use of the left over)
Though I have to add, the paint jobs look absolutely brilliant so far.
@gertjan the ammount of 2nd edition metal Catachans, Cadians and tanks for my Steel Legion I've aquired lately it's a miracle my partner hasn't killed me yet so I try to avoid of thinking of too many reasons to fit Mordians in. I'll make it next years project >_>
