If only. A potential story thread like that may have made the second film interesting.

The reverse of that issue is even weirder. My parents both have blue eyes. I have hazel eyes. How about that for genetics?

Turns out, eye color is not a simple dominant/recessive trait. Or else there's something about me that my parents never told me...

My father has blue eyes, my mother's are green, my sister's are blue, mine are hazel (in that they change color to whatever color they feel like being). I have no idea what any of that means.

It's an amusing idea, but I don't think it's really worth pursuing. I can't see what it would add to the story if it were to be considered true.

What Mendel never knew and is a little known fact is that midichlorians stop double recessive genes expressing.

Well, roughly 10-15% of the kids born in the university clinic where my GF works as a researcher don't call the correct guy "dad".

Sad stats, if one thinks about it.

I was about to say that's a lot lower than I expected, but I see you are from Germany not the UK.

    Seriously ?!

Obi-wan being Lukes real father instead of Vader. You cant see what that would add to the story ?!

Luke saves the man he thinks is his father, who happens to be the man who murdered his real father and Vader is redeemed by the person he thinks is his son, but is actually the proof that the woman he loved did betray him, justifying his paranoia and turn to the dark side.

Thats got Jeremy Kyle written all over it !

Precisely why I think it's a terrible idea.

Also, the existing canon shows that even if it were to be true, no-one other than Obi-Wan and Padme kew anything about it. All it would do is add a silly soap-opera plot which has no effect on anyone's actions, motives or characterisation.

If it had been written into the franchise from the start - rather than being a silly fan joke based on a casting accident - there would be scope for an interesting story to come from it, but it wasn't.

Not that I disagree, but it's not like Lucas had much of any of the mythos 'written in' to the franchise when he made the first few. Especially with the expanded universe and the prequals it was also just retroactively written in.

Quite true - which is why there's already plenty of junk in the prequels - the roles, origins and actions of the two droids is one example. Han's mention of the Force being ancient history rather than something that'd been matter-of-fact in his childhood is another. The only retcon that really works is Luke bing Vader's son, and even that is a bit clumsy.

Soap opera - Space opera, whatever.

I think eliminating the audience from your list if foolish, Sure potentially ONLY Padme could know it was true EXCEPT the audience would know too, changing the film diametrically. Its Albert Hitchcocks "Bomb under the table" (too lazy to google a link)

This "silly fan joke" isn't anything new BTW. In the original script of TESB the line read by David Prowse (The guy in Vader's suit) is "Obi-wan is your father" *cue Lukes scream. It isn't until J.E Jones recorded his voice that the line was changed, to stop spoilers.

I agree with your point on Han's view of the force being ridiculous, given the number of jedi in the prequels.

Ha, quite funny. However, Anakin Skywalker does indeed have blue eyes
