I was looking in to starting historical wargames, mainly during the roman era. Are the warhammer historical rules the rules that are used the most?
The writing was on the wall for this for some time. Not surprised, but disappointed nonetheless...

Shame that they have taken all the resources down.

It's not a surprise, but it's still tragic.
By "writing on the wall" do you mean the massive clearance discount on their line of books the last few months? Yeah I had a feeling they would go under... which is indeed a shame. Legends of the Old West etc. seemed like it could have been fun and I don't know anyone who has all the expansion books![]()

This is just another artillery shell to fall upon the churned up mud and corpses that used to be the concrete bunker of my interest in Games Workshop.
Black Scorpion it is in future.
Like everyone else, I'm sad but not surprised by this turn of events.
I wonder if someone will buy the IP (assuming that GW want to sell it).
Then maybe take a look at Blackwater Gulch instead.

Having spoken to Forgeworld today, they wont be selling any of the licences...
Does FW have any plans on selling WH product through their site? I'd still like to get a copy of Trafalgar![]()
Nope. They wont sell any of the WHH products anymore according to them today.
It certianly a tragic end to what were great introductions to several eras of history. MOst were reworking of GW games so the learning curve was very low. I will miss them, still play, them but ultimatly move on.

I completely agree, yet I was hoping it would not be the case.
I love the core Warhammer rules. To me WAB 2.0 is what Warhammer Fantasy 8th Edition should have been. I like getting together with lots of guys and playing. Right now though, its really tough because there are so many systems out there and each region that we get together with seems to be playing something different. I'm not into Hail Caesar and its mechanics for the Ancients, I haven't played Clash of Empires, don't know anything about War and Conquest. I guess I'll be playing WAB, until noone shows up anymore.

How do I go about getting a copy of Kampfgruppe Normandy now?
Not surprising. I didn't want to jump to any conclusions (and I think I said as much here) when they had the big sale recently. But looks like all of you who were predicting The End were right.
Not surprising, either.
Not really. Historical wargames were huge before GW got into them, and they were never really more than "just another player" in the market. There's still plenty around.
In fact, from most reviews I've read, Clash of Empires and War & Conquest are seen by many as more of what people wanted out of WAB2 than was actually delivered in that book. I will be looking into both as soon as I can.
Second hand.
Assuming that they've still got copies of KGN, AoA2, and Richthofen (since they are all recent releases) I am bit stumped as to why they wouldn't at least continue to sell off existing stock. But what do I know -- maybe they sold out of every book they made.![]()

Well that's a bit of a bummer, there were still a few books I'd like to have picked up sooner or later, as my games budget allowed, but given their practice of only offering direct sales it seems that it will be very difficult to track many of them down. I've got the books that I was most interested in, so not the end of the world I suppose.
