Ideas for mini's and rules for Game of Thrones/SOIAF?

Anyone have any suggestions for a range/ranges of minis that could be co-opted into a Game of Thrones TTWG?

I love the art style of the HBO series and think it would be really cool to play out some of the battles from the books and surrounding lore such has the Baratheon/Stark host attacking the Targaryans to end the mad kings reign would make a great campaign

for some reason I keep thinking that the Lord of the Rings skirmish game may work well, I think that Rohan and Minas Tirith would be good approximations.

Not afraid to do some sculpting and casting to go along with it. can you suggest any reasonably priced mini ranges that could work?

Darksword already do a Game of Thrones line of miniatures - not sure about rules though.

Those are great for character models, but for a battle game I would need line soldiers and mounted troops and knights.

Fireforge do some nice Tuetonic Knights, plus Red-Box do a lot of miniatures that might be suitable such as their Aenglish (more Knights) and possibly some of their Helsvakt range (for the Starks)

I would think LotR rangers would make great models for the Night's Watch, maybe Corsairs of Umbar for Dothraki, and the aforementioned Fireforge Teutonic Knights for some stock knight minis. You might also consider looking at some of the plastic historical ranges for inspiration, especially plastic vikings (could be Wildings or generic infantry for one of the other houses) and also the Perry twins' War of the Roses medieval range. Gripping Beast also have a great selection of Dark Ages and medieval miniatures - mostly in metal but still pretty affordable and I like the look of them.

I feel like Gondorians are a little too specific to the LotR world, but with a bit of conversion work they might be OK.

ah just to clarify, I didnt mean miniatures when I said gondor and rohan, but I ment army lists

Oh gotcha - well in that case yeah, since they're both the most generic human factions I think they'd fit the bill just fine.
