Re: Scaling Back Projects: Advice thread
Buy a 2nd hand, 1st ed Land Raider that requires some TLC on ebay. Renovate and paint it well. When you get bored, sell it for a profit. Unless, of course, you don't like that version. ^_^
Ones to look out for are those that have been put together back-to-front. ^^

Re: Scaling Back Projects: Advice thread
I honestly get a great amount of satisfaction from buying something from ebay that is in a mess, badly painted/assembled and or damaged for very little and then stripping, rebuilding and turning it into a useful item again. Sometimes I keep them but I have sold a fair bit of stuff like this and have used it to fund purchases. The best example of this were the old devastators I bought badly painted, based and a bit knocked about generally. They came with the original box and I got them posted for £4 on ebay. Renovated both the metal and plastic parts and flogged them again for £15. I put this towards a knocked about LR crusader with metal parts that I won for £18. Stripped this and tarted this up with bits from the upgrade sprue and some GS and it looks the business for my deathwing. I'm not short of funds really but to me this is much more satisfying than paying through the nose. I felt a bit dirty when I bought a second crusader to match it new from GW and when I see the two of them sitting together I know which one I feel prouder to own.
