Check the Necron codex pg 50. The last sentence of the death ray rules explains exactly what the scythes other weaponry may target.
GM:"You awake to a beautiful morning, the forest is peaceful as a zephyr whistles through the tree branches"
Bob:"A Whistling Zephyr? I waste it with my crossbow...ha I rolled a critical hit...28 points of damage, is it dead?"
GM:"What? of course not you *****, it just carries on whistling thru the trees"
Sara:"Guys relax a zephyr is just a breeze"
Bob:"Breeze my ass, it just took 28 hit points and it's still whistling at me!"

with the doom scythe, reread the targetting rules, and then realize it doesnt say your 'death ray line" has to endeavor to hit as many in the one unit as possible.
By my reading of the rule you have to fire the Death Ray first as that gives you your posable targets. If you fire the Tesla Destructors first then you can not fire the Death Ray.
I'll think of something appropriate soon enough to put here.
