I’m not going to do anything...

I was trying to slowly get back into 40K, but with the recent price-hike...?

Nope... I won’t be buying models, rules, or anything else having to do with 40K (or Fantasy, for that matter). Probably for the best as Games Workshop seem completely unable to write clear and concise rules, even if their life depended on it.

I am gathering the boxes and materials needed to sell my army if it turns out that 6th doesn't fix whats wrong with the game. I would put a smiley face or something on the end of that sentence but it really isn't funny or a laughing matter.

My armies are huge already. So basically work on painting models, especially my FW stuff.

Re: How are you gearing up for 6th edition?

Not doing anything. Currently I play Daemons most, and they have a reasonable chance of being utterly boned (more) by changes to the deepstrike rules (OK they might actually get better, but the new rules will be designed around space marines, and as long as it doesnt make them overpowered any side effects on xeno codices will not be a priority)

Necrons (my second army) might get better since some of their wierd rules might make sense (e.g. preferred enemy on Destroyers) - as long as the plans havent been changed since the Necron codex (or GW just didn't realise how the rules would actually work when read by someone who didn't know what they were supposed to say). I worry about Doomsday Arks, since they currently rely on being able to turn in place without it counting as movement. If this rule changes they will be very hard to use as they suffer badly from moving (effectively their gun becomes useless) and have a narrow arc of fire. Since such a rules change would not affect any other vehicles they might not know/care.

All I can do is buy less stuff and wait and see...

    Mark.
There is other stuff that it would effect. IG Griffons, Basalisks ( and deathstikes, not that they actually exist in practice...) all mount ordnance barrage not in a turret mount, so similarly cannot move and fire, and have narrow fire arcs. I think there are some other bits as well.

Of course, GW have missed far bigger things than that before, so it doesn't mean much..
Occasionally accused of being helpful and constructive.
One ring Book to rule them all, one ring place to find them, One ring Codex to bring them all, and in the Darkness future bind them. Time for the unified Marine Codex.

Girding my loins for a WFB 8th-style apocalypse. 8th killed Fantasy in my area (and most of my friends and I didn't like it), and the rumors point in a similar direction for 40k 6th. That said I'll still probably flesh out my Eldar further when they get their new book (need more Prisms, Falcons, Jetbikes... and well... everything), and continue to work on completing my Raven Guard and Blood Angel lists... maybe just play the leaked rules, because those were ******* boss. Anyway, I'm just hoping against hope that most of the rules rumored so far are optional or untrue. I may need to finally collect that Retribution army after all...

    Nothing.
Just wait til somebody buys a copy of the 6th Edition rule book and start reading.
I doubt any of my models will be changed, I should have enough to cover any rules changes.

    First army to play 6th
Probably guard, but possibly Marines. Marines were my first army, and I like to use them frequently still.

Definitely waiting and seeing. I'll definitely buy the rulebook but will try to get a mini one first.

I've already got several armies so hopefully none of them get nerfed (like my old Iron Warriors army). After that I never jump in until I've thoroughly read the changes.

I've got Draigowin so hopefully that will still be competitive. But until I know what's happening I'll be playing a lot of Warmachine and Hordes

You're not bothering with the upcoming CSM codex?

I never got into the whole "Mech Craze" deal with my infantry-heavy Imperial Guardsmen.
Guess I'm set for 6th ed's inevitable turnaround now that everyone's chock full of Rhinos/Chimeras/Valkyries then?

Not so mech with me either, jumper spam, foot sloggers, some mixed vehicles to add flavour, but not transport spam, only own 1 rhino and a razorback, 2 valkyries and that is all....

Not likely, I had a bit of an epiphany regarding my enjoyment of the game, armies, and play styles.

You stole the words right out of my mouth.

I'd love to see the (actual) rules and maybe give them a go. But I'm very happy with the GW material that I do have, and I rarely play at clubs, so I have the great fortune of being able to play the game the way I want to play it. That is, any edition 3-5, depending on what my opponent and I are in the mood for.

Re: How are you gearing up for 6th edition?

My army is pretty comprehensive as it is. I can not buy any of the "new" stuff (like storm raven storm talon blahblah) because I can run competitive and fun lists from my 7000 points of stuff.

I pity those who are new or going into the hobby though... the investment slope is getting steeper every year...

    I think I have.

    Great plastic range support.
    Good looking character models.
Entertaining character to the range (if your into that thing )
A few decent builds, and at this age of book thats amazing.

I'm trying to jump into airbrushing and getting more models painted and on the battlefield. Speaking of battlefields I need to finish up my RoB game board along with a bunch of terrain. I might not even buy the rules set until the new year just to give myself an incentive to get to work!

That's cool, man. Orks also provide one of the best opportunities in 40K to get creative with scratchbuilding and conversions. I'm sure you'll have a blast.
