    Dwarf Army funding campaign!

    Hi !

With our upcoming wargame, Warthrone, round the corner, Avatars of War has switched from doing only heroes, to developing full fantasy armies.

AoW is still a small company and developing a full fantasy army is a very big project. Thanks to the development of the WarCast medium, we can create multipart plastic regiments with a very reasonable investment, however, our investing capability allows us to sculpt and produce only a small fraction of what would be a totally complete Dwarf army.

We have created the Dwarf Army funding campaign with the goal of being able to create and release an awesome & complete full Dwarf Army!

If you'd like to help us with the Dwarf Army project check out the Dwarf Army funding campign at Indiegogo.com here:
    http://www.indiegogo.com/aow-dwarfs?a=586327

    Thanks so much!
    Felix

    Edit

This thread was approved in advance between myself and Felix. To support this appeal Felix has taken out a banner ad on the site to in order to support WarSeer.

Re: Avatars of War Dwarf Army

I love AoW's dwarfs, so I intend to contribute. However, their timing is bad, coming just after ...other such projects by other companies that may or may not have received this month's modelling budget already. I guess I'll see what I can scrape up in about 29 days.

The dwarf artwork looks fantastic, though. I'm really looking forward to the elites and the king. It's a real shonda that Felix put the Valkyries and some of the other elites so far down the wait list in favor of more vanilla dwarf warriors.

You know...I like the artwork and I like the minis, but the contribution levels are a bit weird for me right now.

I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm not going to jump right into this one - again, timing is bad. I'm not a dwarf player typically, and there's a lot of other funding projects out there that are getting more of my attention. That said, lots of time left, so my opinion may change depending on stretch rewards and additional art/greens shown.

I'm having the exact same timing problem. I'm not sure that I'll be able to contribute at all, considering I'll need to (mostly) focus my money towards school for the next few years.

I think the stretch rewards look really interesting. Especially the War Bears.

Tough having this and Mantic's KS a day apart. I'll likely pick up some dwarfs from AoW though. It'll depend on the stretch rewards that open.

If only Felix were planning some dwarfs who turned into wolves...and then let other dwarfs ride them into battle...

    Dvergewolf cavalry!!

I'd pull out all my prior budgetary commitments for that.

Re: Avatars of War Dwarf Army

I have some of their plastic slayers and metals, and as such am convinced of the quality and personal need for me to own these dwarfs.

Timing is bad because it is the end of the month and last one had a substantial increase in projects like this for me. But I will support it, I want those Dwarf Bear Warriors and Valkyries and those dwarf warriors with two swords, a shield on their back and a twohand weapon look very tasty as well. It will just take a few days. This project will allow me to advance my partly boring GW dwarfs with some things I want. I already have a few Scibor bears for converting and would happily add more individual bears. I foresee a very large varied dwarf army in my future, this makes me quite happy.
And with a new rule set the future looks even brighter, hell yeah!

The stretch goals are something new, not entirely unrewarding, but lack a bit of incentive to me: my pile does not grow. As far as I get it you buy a certain amount of miniatures and then get to chose from all the available options, also there is no saving from going from 95$ to 190$, you could have simply had more of the 95$ ones and onetime shipping. I hope this will go past $56250 to see some new stretch goals.
I do like the "pick whatever you want part" of your commitment though, very nice touch there.

Just when my purchases for this year seemed clear this happens and I will have to readjust my budget in a way. Interesting times for the hobby indeed!

I think this is an awesome way to drum up support for alternate miniature companies especially with sculpts that are on par or exceeding GWs. I would suppport this, but already blew my miniature budget for the month.

    Re: Dwarf Army funding campaign!

I think Felix made a big mistake putting up this kickstarter now instead of a month or two from now. After all the other hugely popular kickstarters for gamers, I doubt enough AoW fans have enough funds left to make this drive a success. The dwarf army doesn't look likely.

I'm all for them making more models, but they are promising lots of Warcast kits. Not too impressed with that, can I get my Chaos Warriors I ordered at the start of February before you worry about Dwarfs please?

I think some like me are waiting for their pay check before taking the next dive. I do agree with Rosstifer and hope they do not overstretch healthy sustainable growth.

It would be a hell of a shame for such an awesome and talented company to do that. Those concepts make me want to play Dwarfs, and that's saying something I can tell you!

I think it's a mistake not finding a way to put it on actual kickstarter.

    Re: Dwarf Army funding campaign!

I think the choice of dwarfs was right, the berserkers were quite succesfull and so many people will know what the deal is. Besides AoW dwarfs have always been awesome. And as they have a new ruleset coming up they need at least a second army. They would also have the numbers on their best selling ranges so it should be a well thought through decision.

And my fingers are hovering above the button to add, just need the damned money in my account first. Once this gains momentum it will be huge.

I just threw in for 50 models, I shelved my dwarf project a year ago because I didn't feel like using GW hammerers and cool mini hadn't gotten around to releasing the game zone hammerers in the us yet. The avatars of war dwarves are great, can't wait to see the elite units!

P.s. Felix you need to get around to sculpting a human knight.

Good luck to em with this, Bear Cavalry would be sweet. Pay day is the end of this week, and I will put money down then. Probably I can stretch to the 95, I really liked the Dwarf Berserkers last year.

I agree with that. Kickstarter seems to be the dominant crowdfunding source, especially since it's backed by Amazon.

Mr. Paniagua, your dwarves have always amazed me and I own quite a few of them. Between us, my friends and I probably have a small regiment of AoW heroes, a number that is sure to grow. I won't be able to contribute (the case might or might not be different in some months' time), but I wish you all the best of luck! The dwarf sketches are wonderful, and I look forward to see this crowdfunding campaign reach success and give us access to more AoW models. Bring 'em on! All this dwarf love is supreme and right in every way.

I'm by the way sure to buy at least forty Apocalypse Dwarves of Chaos when they are released, maybe more. The Chaos Dwarf Lord was gorgeous.
