Thread: Dwarf Army funding campaign!

    Re: Dwarf Army funding campaign!

Over on AoW's forums, there have been a lot of good suggestions with regards to how to improve on the overall format of the campaign. I'm gonna copy & paste this. Felix spends a lot more time there than here.

They hit 40k recently. Looks like there's going to be a lot more dwarfs on the market. Hope I have the cash when they come out, or that the campaign extends a bit.

The campaign is over. I believe it ended at exactly $39,575. Which means there will be 17 new dwarf kits and heroes, including pathfinders, berzerkers in bear furs, thunder warriors, a bear-berzerker lord, Iron Guard, Dwarves riding armored bears (Very excited about armored bears!!), A mortar, some animated statues, dwarf pistoliers, and a few others. This is gonna be a pretty good year for AoW. I'm really looking forward to August-January when the perks are scheduled for delivery.

Well, I totally forgot to pledge on this one (blame Mantic and Sedition Wars), but I'm glad it worked out for them.

Hopefully their next venture hits the ground running instead of treading water for so long. I'm hoping they give it another shot with some of their other lines.

I'm glad they got a fair amount of money from this. I've always played dwarves, and my collection shows it. Broken weapons, poor paint jobs from when I was younger, inconsistent army colors, the lot. I'm interested in maybe reatarting my collection. I'll just have to see how they look!

So I got two mails with the same content from Indiegogo telling me I will be contacted soon by Avatars of War, any word on what costs how many dwarfs yet, besides the dwarfs units obviously?

Looking at the time frame and I already have made my mind up to support this with multiple buys from them in the future I am sorely tempted to get some Avatars right now. On the other hand I think 2 boxes of bear warriors and path finders with some treasure hunters to look forward in the future sounds rather nice.

Anybody heard anything yet from Avatars of War? It has almost been two weeks now, but I do not mind if it is due Felix being locked up to sculpt, sculpt and sculpt.

No, haven't heard anything. I only bought the standard bearer and I can't remember the projected shipping date - was it November?

What it said on the funding page was that "Dwarf Season" was scheduled to go from July to January of 2013. I also haven't heard any specific details about how to claim perks. I personally am planning on trying to redeem mine as soon as everything I want is sculpted-- to save felix on shipping things out one at a time.

No specific date was provided for the release of the standard bearer, FYI.

Lord knows. I have plenty of projects to work on in the mean time.

I'm not worried when the Dwarves themselves come out - but I'd like to know when they're going to hold the raffle for the few people that entered. I've tried to ask via IndieGogo - but the stupid site is still bugged or whatever and won't let me comment :/

From the picture - without close ups - they make GWs Dwarfs look as if they have been made by a 6 year old.
All models look unique and very well done, only real concern is the standard top which look a bit dodgy.

Well I can see some reocurrance, but they are very nice.

I especially like the armoured, long bearded (well cared for) look and the more viking (dragon helmet, horned helmet) approach. The maces I do not like because to me dwarf use building tools in war as well so hammers and axes, but this is sure to be added to my dwarf army.

They used hammers exactly like those maces in ancient china...

Those look rather good... I may have to pick up a set of those when they come out.

EDIT: These are plastic? Or is war cast or whatever it is more like fine cast/resin?

It's a little closer to resin than finecast. Although there are some similarities to finecast. Particularly, it is softer than resin and easier to cut. But it's still not as soft as finecast. Nor is it as flexible. Or bubbly.
